Hi dogs, riding this weekend back from cottonwood and noticed a miss fire that sounded like puff out the carb perhaps. Dealer said maybe carb running lean? Happened about every 10 minutes usually accelerating..uphills noticed it. Day was very humid and cooler than normal.

Thanks for any possible help.

I have an 08 pit and did the same thing to me. Up the main jet. Should do it.
The transition between the 2 jets is more apparent up hill or under load.

The only time it is the main is if it does this under hard throttle. Otherwise, 80%+ of your riding is done on the int jet. Further, if you spread the int and main jets too far you will have a transitional jetting problem. For example, 32/78 is a nice setup. But a 295/80 not so much.

You stated, "if you spread the int and main jets too far you will have a transitional jetting problem."

Per Bob at XXX Carb that is not true. The numbers on the jets don't specify any type of timing release, only a jet size to allow a predetermined amount of fuel at the same time. It is the "air bleed" that through vacuum will retard or advance the action.

After several attempts to rid of the transition "sneeze" on my old bike that XXX had reworked for me. Bob was ready to swap my carb out for another.
He as a last resort had me try an 82 main and it never sneezed again. BTW: I had a 31 int. I used to think the same until Bob explained it to me.
I don't claim to be a carb expert, just passing on what I experienced
