08' Mutt - Tappet Screen

This S.O.B. is kicking my ass. Gas Man , I notice on your pics on the how to change fluids that your tappet screen cap has a hex head on it. Mine from the factory has a slotted cap which is a prick to loosen. I currently use a 12" long screw driver to remove it but I would like to go with a hex head for easier removal. I have not visited a dealer yet but I guess I'll start thereto try to replace it. Anyone experiencing the same problem?

Hey neighbor...I can most likely get you what you need out of Drag. Let me know or give me a call!!!

Drag and jp cycles sell a 3 pc. kit to replace the tappet screen and the 2 oil pump screws with a allen head type

Turk: when you get these parts can you post the part numbers? I plan on doing the same when I get to it. Also, good luck in your move and say hello to all those Maryland riders - JimmyZee, BigBlueDog and Luphole and the others. Instant family.

Turk, I have the original chrome hex head plug from my engine in perfect condition. I replaced mine with an external oil pressure guage so if you want it, let me know, it's yours.

Not to short change turk1. But BBD... as shown with my oil gauge lately... you may need that, if you even need to replace the oil gauge and not being able to do it ASAP. I recently had to put my plug back in while my auto meter is out on repair.

G-Man, good thought only I have 2 brand new replacement guages. Neither has a rubber plug in them so no chance of a leak. One Autometer and one Stewart Warner. So if it helps a brother BDB in need, he may have it, no problemo. Thanks for the advice which was well founded and deeply appreciated.
