This is just your basic 360 walk-around when I'm buying used:
Levers/bar ends: Never buy a crasher if you can... parts bike yeah. Dropped is going to hurt the front end too. The bars will twist the triples so you ride it and if the bars go one way, the wheel the other way, there is your sign. Since you can't order OEM parts for the bike, she is the potential for a parts bike so salvage priced it is or = Walk.
Engine: Let the owner start it, and hope he didn't start it before you got over there and is warm to the touch. All it takes is an overnight for the oil to travel down the valve stem, drop that oil in the chamber and while you are standing behind the bike, or looking at the exhaust when he starts it; so if it puffs smoke and clears it's head work and not worth the asking price = Walk.
Title: No state issue DMV document, but 'I'll write a bill of sale' = Walk.
Crash issue/Heavy patina/not stock: So say the bars, grips, and levers are new. Point the eyes at the neck and look for cracked paint. This says a bend frame from a previous crash. Here is where you still go down to look at the fork stops and those upright stoppers showing a heavier indent than the other side, or say the fork tube almost hits the tank on one side and has plenty of room on the other side. Whoever is asking premium, then it's showroom at 8k. Not stock and modified or heavy patina, maybe 6k or = Walk.
