So I will be riding an bike will run out of fuel and sputter.. Unscrew the gas cap and will fire right up... Obviously not venting properly... So what do I gotta do.. Bike is literally like brand new. 500 miles and found a hickup.

If the gas cap has a white inner section inside the outer threaded ring then you can unscrew it to open the cap vent for normal venting. The cap was an EPA cap I think and had the inner vent block installed from the factory.

As the others have stated, there should be a white insert inside the threaded portion of the cap. I assume the white portion is part of the venting system. Someone, I bought my bike used, removed the white part on my cap. It may have been doing what you are experiencing, causing the bike to crap out. As I said someone removed mine and now my gas cap leaks at times and is screwing up the paint on my tank. I just ordered the parts to put back in my cap. The white part is actually the vent device. There should be two rubber O-rings also. You may try removing the white part and try cleaning it. I ordered the parts from Big Dog Performance parts. Go to their website and search gas cap. The caps are on page 3 of the search results. They have a parts blowup of the cap. Be forewarned, the website is slow to load so give it plenty of time.
