08 Mastiff & Ridgeback Bar Spec

Since a few of us are looking at swapping out bars for the new ones available, I thought I would post this info from BDM engineering:

08 Ridgeback: 0 Rise / 17" Pullback
08 Mastiff: 4.75" Rise / 15.25" Pullback

Keep in mind that both the Mastiff and Ridgeback have a rake of 39 degrees. Both have a Tree Rake of 3 degrees and a Trail of 4.35"

Swapping out bars on an older model (my 04 Chopper for example) would be going to an overall rake of 40 degrees. The Ridgeback bars are listed at $295.00 and the Mastiff bars show $588.00! Kinda makes the decision for you. Then again, the best bang for the buck is the use of risers and your existing bars.

so nelson since Im a newbie with the big dog. You have to tell me with the ridgeback bars and no rise will they clear the tank and be able to turn? Tell me about these risers. I had them on the old metric cruiser can I get some for the mastiff? thanks,

I'll see if I can tell on the bars / tank issue for you and get back to you on that.

You can definitely add risers to your existing bars, but keep in mind that you will also be raising your Speedo up in the air. Plus the BDM bars have the cross piece "banner" at the bottom for strength ..... that will also come up into your field of vision.

With both the Ridgeback bars and with the risers you will definitely have to extend your wiring, and most likely will want to use longer cables for your clutch/throttle.
