Curdog ,

Did you find out what the issue was yet ? my bike is doing the same thing but i just changed out the battery ...mine will work sometimes and sometimes is wont ..
OGREEN, I still haven't figured it out. Mine too was intermittent at first then went totally out.

I've got a couple of days off during Easter so I'm going to look at it some more. I can jumper start it and ride so if it does turn out to be the EHC I may look at adding the start button like others have done.

Damn it feels good to be back running again! After extensive troubleshooting with everything pointing to the EHC I gave in and went for the WirePlus replacement. Jake swapped it out today in his shop and once everything was buttoned up, I turned the key on, hit the run button, mashed the start button and she fired right up. When I first started the process of running down the problem I hoped that I could find some kind of connection or shorted wire problem but there was nothing wrong with the wiring. I want to thank those who chimed in to help with troubleshooting ideas. :2thumbs:

I started a thread a few weeks ago to track the troubleshooting progress but in summary my '08K9 began having intermittent problems starting and eventually wouldn't start at all. Also, the left front blinker wouldn't work. When I checked all wiring and controls and found no problems and couldn't locate a good EHC to validate my suspicion I decided to replace the EHC. Now, everything functions properly again.

Kudos to Jake - BDMRIDGEBACK.

After reading all this, I am sure I will have to put my WP in at some point (It is sitting on the shelf and I was fortunate enough to get it from Jake a while back). I just don't want to stop riding my BD long enough to do the work! My EHC hasn't lost power in the last couple of days and I have gotten used to cycling the key switch, hitting run and then start while riding when it happens. I guess until it becomes a big deal to me, I'll keep running the original EHC. Plus, I want to solder the ignition key switch connection under the tank and replace the connection under the ignition key switch cover with a DTM just to see what happens first. So, in summary, my EHC power losses have not stopped me from riding yet.

Even though all signs pointed to the EHC, you did an excellent job of ruling out other problems and not jumping to conclusions. Good work by yourself and great suggestions by the membership!

I wish I would have seen this thread earlier...The HID kit killed your EHC. The same thing happened to my buddy 08 K9. Once he installed the HID, problems started happening and eventually it wouldnt start...Good Swap for the WP kit.
