was the battery put on a full charge before you installed it in the bike? you say the battery test good, it will need to have AT LEAST 12.8 volts at the time of crank to start the motor. anything less and you are asking for problems. put it on a tender for a few days before you drain the battery too much. and highly recommend at least a 20 minute ride once cranked, and check the charging system.

Any NEW MAT type battery needs a full charge before being but into service. Batteries already having electrolyte installed can also have been sitting on the shelf for some time before they were sold.
Sounds like battery terminal leads need to be cleaned with a copper or brass wire brush. Sometimes even if the cable leads LOOK clean they really aren't electrically due to cable contact oxidation. Give them a good cleaning and place the heaviest gauge (largest) wires closest to the battery terminal blocks then the smaller wires.

If all that fails then take out the solenoid and clean it real good, spray WD-40 on it and see if that does the trick.
Thanks for all the input! The battery was at full charge when purchased and reads 12.7v when tested with a voltmeter; no load test done. But is it not rare for it to have a strong start one day, then not even turn over the very next? I can hear the solenoid energizing when I try to start it so it doesn't sound like it's the issue. However, maybe the contacts still need a good cleaning. I'll clean up the battery terminals and and solenoid and see where that gets me.

Batteries are a weird thing. I have bought new batteries that died within a week or would lose their charge overnight with no short and have batteries that I took out of the bike after a year and put in my zero turn and they lasted for years.
Click, Click means the battery isn't charged enough or Your solenoid is bad or You have a bad connection or your starter is dead.
Start at the simple charge the battery and make sure your connections are tight and clean and then the solenoid cleaning and if that all fails you need a new starter. You could also try moving the bike in gear in case the starter is hung up.
