THANKS to Slowrider for the "How to" exhaust install thread he wrote about a year and a half ago.:2thumbs:

Thought I'd add a couple things to his excellent thread.

First off, I like the look and sound of the pipes. The sound is similar to the 2 into 1 Pro HS pipes I've had on my Dyna FXDX for years. Also, as mentioned by someone else here, clutch adjustment looks difficult (at best) with these pipes. I definitely recommend adjusting it before removing the stock pipes (of course I forgot to do this and realized it after the stock exhaust was off... crap!):bang:

I got the pipes online through a reputable ebay dealer for $395 with free shipping. The pipes arrived quickly, brand new, and in an unopened V&H box.

Install was uneventfull and I rejeted the carb (from .295/.74 to .32/.78) while pipes were off the bike for easier access to the carb. Lot's of great threads and suggestions on this forum for rejeting and adjusting the carb. Thanks to everyone that takes the time to throw their 2 cents in!

One note for those thinking of this exhaust... and I probably missed it somewhere in cyberspace. That note is: These pipes require a new passenger peg relocation bracket! The right (obviously ;) pax peg will not extend down without touching the pipe. It will mount to the frame above the pipe... it's just not usable unless you get the replacement billet peg mounts. Of course, I realized this after rejeting, after the install, and just prior to firing it the first time :(

Called Jason at Strokers and he gave me the background that when these pipes were/are bought through a BDM dealer these pax peg brackets are part of the kit. The brackets basically move the pegs foward and up an extra inch or so. So, heads up if you are ordering online and tkae your girlfriend or wife riding... you'll need these brackets ( about a $100 bucks). Thanks to Jason and Lena for their assistance in ordering the new jets, O2 sensor plugs, and new exhaust gaskets... Excellent service and quick shipping the items out.

Thanks again to everyone that posts their tips and BDM experience here! Please keep them coming. I've uploaded pics of the pipes on the bike to the members gallery and am waiting for "image pending approval" before I'm allowed to attach to a post (I guess).
Take care and ride safe!
