Hey everyone.looking for some help.recently had intermittent starting issues.when i go to start it rolls over once, starter cuts out, horn honks, and signals flash.it wouldn't start at all the other day, same symptoms.I followed the starter thread , removed it and had the contacts done at a shop.put it all back, same problem.I have 12 volts when I hit the start button at the green wire at the solenoid. I have checked all connections and have a new battery.any help? Thanks in advance....

Weak battery, you have all the symptoms. 12 volts is too low. You need up to 12.8 volts... Have that battery load tested, it's free!

It still won't start even if I boost it.I replaced the battery.its still doing the same with old or new battery.if it was the battery it should start if I boost it.

Check your grounds and ensure clean connections. Do you have any red lights on the EHC that indicate grounds? In the How To section on here there is a thread on how to read your EHC lights.

Hey raywood. Appreciate your time. When I turn ignition on the controller light flashes green and power is solid yellow.hit run red ignition led lights solid.all good to here. When I hit start it either rolls once or clicks and chatters then all leds light up except pc link.I have 9v at green solenoid wire hit start and it jumps to 12 plus. When I pull green wire off and hit start the starter led lights green and solenoid clicks. I can't help but point to this starter still......

How can the solenoid click with the GREEN wire disconnected?

Sounds like low battery voltage or bad cranking amps causing electronics to drop out. Battery and connections.

I still think you are having a battery problem. I bought a brand new Braille and it was defective. Also tried boosting and nothing. As soon as the horn honks and lights flashing, it is indicating low voltage.

I´ve read this same thing in several occasions.... is this standard on all Dogs? It did never happen to me.... the bitch just dies with very very loud bangs through the exhaust and it's the end till I recharge the battery, which will last another 200-250 miles............

Try this....

Take out the crank position sensor from the front left of the engine. Then try to start it again to see if it cranks over normally... It wont start but it should turn over and not honk the horn. Thats just a step in the diagnosis ...

Even though you got a new battery you should give it a full charge before using. By charge I mean use a charger and not a battery tender... Just saying...

I had a similar problem... Washed the bike then went for a ride... My turn signals were on, flashers intermittent, and idiot lights on tach would faintly glow. Then the bike would totally shut down while driving, hit the run and start and it would refire. Turns out i got water on my boards in the buttons on the handlebars... Pulled them out and dried them off. Good as new..

It takes the electrical interference caused by the ignition out of the picture. If your battery and grounds are good , it could be the EHC that is reacting to electrical interference. (EMI) Try it, its an easy step.

hey everyone.just thought id give an update on my low voltage situation.in the end i did have a weak starter and a new crappy battery that the shop said was good. i took it to another battery shop and it had only 40cca! bought a odyssey and have been for the most part fine. the odd time if its really cool out it kicks out.if i just bump it by the compression stroke it fires right up. just wanted to tell everyone as it seems to be a common thread.i thank you all for you help.its nice to have a knowledgible group to go to. cheers.
