'07 K-9 clicks and then flashes lights

I did some searching and I know this is probably discussed somewhere, but I guess I suck at trying to find the topics I need!

Last week I pulled the dog off the tender backed out of the garage and went riding for a couple hours. I stopped to eat and when I went to leave I hit the started button and I get one click and then the lights flash. I figured it was a crappy battery since it was a POS battery so I went and picked up a Harley battery at the local dealer. I came home put the battery on the tender until it showed fully charged and then put it in the bike. Hit the starter cranked right off and away I went for a couple hour ride. Made a pit-stop and the same thing happened. Hit the starter, one click, and the lights flash a couple times.

What kind of voltage should be showing at the battery, and how do I check to see if the bike is charging while it is running? While running all the lights are bright and everything works, but after a two or three hour ride the thing will not start even with a brand new battery.

check the charging system.... properly charged battery should be about 12.8vdc. or more... while running checking the batteruy voltage about 13.5 to 14.5 vdc.. check the breaker or fuse.. if its fine check the stator output. unplug the v/r & check the 2 terminals to the stator.. idel should be 20+ vac .. higher rmp will put out more 40+ vac... possibe breaker / fuse or v/r... .. .. if you need more help PM me......

Mine was doin the same thing. On short runs I had no problem as I kept it on the bat tender. On long run bat died. Turned out to be my voltage regulator slowly dieing out. All good now thou :2thumbs:

Where would this breaker or fuse be?

near the battery.. if its a breaker,, it should be a small gray box.. with 2 threaded studs on it.. & a small reset button... the button may be on the bottom.. follow thew main power wire from the battery.. it goes to 1 of the threaded studs.. the other stud has a wire the goes to voltage regulator.. the breaker looks like this but instead of metal the outside is usually gray plastiv & has a small reset button on it..

I had the same issue. What happened was the day previous I rotated by back plate sideways. While putting it back together I kinked a wire. A direct short will cause this issue. After taking it apart and reputting it back together without pinching it everything works great.
