Do you mean the "Coil Cover" gets hot?
Is the bike carbureted?
If it is the Ignition is by the battery behind a plastic cover.
I had an 06 K9 in my shop a while back with the same problem, the coil cover getting really hot, and it ended up being a couple of shorts in the ignition harness near the coil.

All 2007 Bulldogs are EFI.

I would run some Seafoam cleaner thru the gas for a tank or two to clean out the fuel injection. The bike could be running too lean. Also check your charging voltage to be excessive and make sure the voltage regulator bolts are properly TIGHTENED to the frame.

There are fiber washers under the coil cover at the two head bolts to help isolate the coil cover from the cylinder head heat. Not sure how effective they really are but they are there from the factory.

I posted years ago about wrapping the rear exhaust pipe with high temp wrap under the outer pipe shield to help keep the righthand battery cover under the seat from blistering.

Ya its EFI and ran some through last yr and no change the cover the ignition is built into is where it says 117 ci and i think its made of aluminum and just gets so hot and holds the heat and everything behind it ( ignition , coil and sparkplugwires ) are all overheating after about 45 mins of riding , otherwise bike runs fine , thought maybe it was a common problem and might just have to relocate the ignition but i only see ignition relocation kits for 05 and 06

The 05-06 kits were to resolve an issue where the cover was rubbing the ignition module wiring.
You definitely have a larger issue. Running along BigDogBro1s thinking have you checked the plugs? Is the rest of the motor getting excessively hot?

Changed the plugs last yr then again last week cause it just died at a stop sign and wouldnt fire up again , mechanic said there was no spark thats why he changed the coil and rest of engine dont seem out of the ordinary for heat

Have you checked for any intake air leaks? Look down into the throttle body with the air filter removed and see if the gasket has sucked into the inside of the manifold.

Try running a heat range cooler sparkplug number if the sparkplugs are a gray color.

I run Champions because they have a small 5/8" hex nut size and a socket wrench can fit into the head fin area easily. I also run a heat range cooler.

Any modifications to the engine like exhaust, intake, cam, etc.?

The stock ECM/EFI module will run the bike hotter because of required EPA standards from factory. I would try sending the ECM to Wild Steed Works? and possibly get it unlocked and have the "Off road EFI box file" installed (IF YOU ARE STOCK WITH ONLY V&H BR2 PIPES) then run with it until the "service engine" LED comes on then MERGE the EFI maps and it should not only run better but probably cooler as well.

I would also connect the ECM to S&S Protune2 software and review it for any DTCs and even find out if the box is even locked or not to start with.

I thank you and GroundPounder for sharing the EFI data you have been gathering. It was in very short supply and your efforts and work are a tremendous help.
