Hey guys,

Looking at this 06 Ridgeback from a friend for $16,500.00. I got an estimate
on fixing the TP rocker boxes, comes to $3752.00. Now the bike has 2600 or so miles on it and it runs prefect - and is clean as VERY clean shape. With the future work to be done in mind is this a good deal????....

Thanks,
RED

Not all of the bikes had a problem. (Raywoods got 50 bazillion miles on his) If the bike is in good shape I woudn't worry about replacing anything unless a problem were to occur.:2thumbs:

Beatem down and buy it.

I just talked to someone at BDM (warranty dept) yesterday about the TP boxes and he said the same thing as V some 05's have no problem and he referenced one at the factory now with 50-60.000 miles (it has to be Raywood's) with no upper end problems..

Now.. also talked with John (Beezer) yesterday who is resembling mine as i type this and he brought up the point that if you don't pay attention when reassembling the TP boxes it is possible to tighten them down slightly out of alignment.. There are no alignment dowels and some side to side play within the hold down bolts..... so the problem might not be the TP box's but with the person that assembled the upper end.... Mine only had 7400 miles and was ticking away..

Hey, that was my bike they were talking about. They stripped it down pretty good but will soon be back on the road.

Kind of tired of hearing about the TP rocker boxes and problems. No issues with mine and it runs and runs and runs.............

Nothing wrong with this motor that has 56,000 miles on it!

I figured it had to be yours... interesting to see in one of the photos you can see your rear wheel still assembled to the swing arm... and disconnected from the frame.

Red, go get that bike but if you are going to do the miles you say you want to do I would really consider a K-9.
But if you keep the HD then no problmes.

agree with what the boys are saying about the TP boxes - some have problems some don't. However, 3 grand plus sounds a lot - I paid $275 for my S&S boxes (brand new on ebay) although that didn't include the rocker gear, which I think comes out at about $400. Valves and guides etc aren't expensive and from what i can tell its not a difficult job to do if you know what you're doing. Just sounds expensive to me.

I have the TP rockers also. Have 10,000 miles on mine, but have noticed the ticking sound is getting louder. Runs great though and does not use any oil. I'm just going to ride it.
