I looked thru old posts, couldn't find quite what I wanted. Here is my question.I have a 06 mastiff with TP heads, will the stock springs handle a 600 cam.Is there a problem with these heads?Did S&S build these motors for BD?This is my second 06 mastiff same year.My last one run great with 600 cam no other mods other then xxx modified carb air and exhust upgrade but it had S&S heads and this one has TP heads. Will I be good with cam change to a 600 only.No spring change or deck or clearence adjustments. Thanks Watty

If its a 06 model the heads are S&S with TP rocker boxes (4 bolt covers) , comp cams springs and TP rockers (someone correct me if I'm wrong on the rockers). If the bike does actually have TP "heads" then somebody changed them. The valve springs have been questionable with a .600 cam. It depends on who you talk to and how you intend to ride. Many have had success and many have had valve guide wear.

I ran a 600 with stock head and TP rocker boxes. The Stealer installed the cam so as to maintain the warranty and that was it. I ran the 600 with V&H radius pipes and a spike intake filter. Then I went crazy and the rest of the story is too long

I have an 06 Mastiff that had the TP rocker boxes. 12 K and the motor blew to pieces. Exhaust valve broke and went into the lower end. Bike was never redlined or run hard. Motor was sent back to S&S and rebuilt with their heads.

Take a look at the springs when you remove the cover off your rocker box. If they have a red stripe, I've been told that they will work for a .600 cam. I have an '05 and mine had the TP RB and red striped springs and I put the .600 cam in mine. I eventually went to S&S rocker boxes/roller rockers due to valve guide wear and broke a valve off mid stem that dropped into the cylinder and did major damage. All that really had little to do with the springs or the cam. Mainly the poor alignement that the TP rocker boxes/roller rockers had.
