Don't know about the key, but the bike looks nice. Is there a screw missing on the battery box?

No screw missing, that is standard.
They installed a Wire Plus kit from the looks of the switch and the mess under the seat.
Who knows what they were thinking when they relocated it.
I stand here in my shop on a regular basis shaking my and wondering wtf were they thinking.....
With WP out of business that system will have to go when/if one of the modules goes out.

But why route the ignition switch back? I used a Harley switch and dremeled the existing hole in the cover with a longer set screw.

That’s some bullshit work !
And if they cut corners there be careful unless you can fix mistakes!
Not to mention now the side cover is Fucking ruined.

Wire plus unit will fail eventually, then your stuck still having to use that spot regardless of else you got a hole in the cover.

My power unit failed, I kept the switching unit in case someone needs it but I suspect that's never the unit to fail cause it's all just low voltage shit. So might just get thrown away some day soon

To install the WP kit you had to mill out the key hole to put the "tractor" key tumbler in. I gave up yrs ago trying to figure out why people do some of the shit they do. Lazy, stupidity, dad never taught them any better, stupid breeds stupid....... maybe they where 12 beers into the job and said "that looks like a good place".
