06 k9 electrical problems

I rode over to the parents house tonight and no problems. Actually Ive had zero problems since I bought the bike. But tonight when I started the bike to ride home the only light to come on was the headlight, nothing else worked. no tach, no turn signals,brake lights or licencse plate light. I made it home and then the bike would not shut off with the button or key. I popped the clutch to kill it and the headlight wouldnt shut off with the key. I had to unhook the battery to shut off the light. Any Ideas? By the way the bike was still running perfect riding home. The EHC seems to be the updated version. (It has the USB port wire on it.) It had a green and yellow light in the 2nd row lit and a red light in the 6th row top lit and a red light lit on a little square box off to the side.

How old is the battery? Do a load test on it. These bikes need a lot of juice or the EHC will shut down.

X2. Start with the battery and then go over all the electrical connections. Unplug, dielectric grease and replug. Make sure the crimps on the wires are tight also. Good luck......

I had to unhook battery to turn off the light last night. This morning I hooked back up and started the bike and everything worked fine... Im wondering if I tried to start the bike to fast by not letting it finish the start up check. can that cause problems?

The EHC on these bikes can do some weird things sometimes. Unless it happens again I wouldn't put to much worry in to it.

I watch the speedo sweep every time BUT, the other night I had a brain fart and started the bike real fast after I turned the key on... stupid me

Just have to remember that the EHC is a mini computer. And just like computers if you keep clicking the damn mouse something bad is sure to happen.
