I'm new to the big dog, but love it. The only thing I've noticed is you need to give your bike a quick check over before each ride to ensure nothing is loose...which takes 2 minutes and should be done anyways. As far as fit and finish...here's a test for you...go get a street glide and ride it 50 miles...then come and get the big dog...mastiff, k9, wolf, chopper, hell...anyone you want...ride it 50 miles...come back and add up how many people stopped you at a red light or driving down the road taking pics of you with their cell phone. I'm definately not knocking harley, but if you are considering a big dog, then you want to get noticed and probably don't want to be at the gas station and somebody else pull up on the exact same bike as you. You won't be disappointed with the dog.

Park your Dog in the middle of a bunch of Harleys, then ask all the Ladies hanging around which they think has the best Fit and Finish....Bet its 9-1 in favor of the Dog !!!! Ruff Ruff Son !!!

What does getting attention have to do with fit and finish? Fit and finish is paint, chrome, gaps, powdercoat, wiring routing and covering, etc.... It's not reliability or bolts coming loose either.

i am sure if you were to sit , say a bourget, a harley, an american ironhorse, a big dog, a west coast chopper, and maybe a big bear next to each other and go over them with an open mind, you would walk away with the same opinion as just about all those on this sight have. BDM has the best parts, the best fit and finish, the best performance, the best company backing of any of the competitors. just sayin'.
Unbelievable

I have a 06 K9, and have spent plenty of BD parts to customize mine. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH FIT AND FINISH, well, maybe a little with the new saddle bags-but they're fine now.

I had to go back and read the question, which is fit & finish:
I was told that the fit and finish of the Big Dog motorcycles is less than perfect
I will say it may not be perfect, yet BDM fit & finiish is second to none
I would bet most that bought a Big Dog have had between several and many other Motorcycles and that most all of us did a lot of research before adopting a Big Dog.

The fit n finish to me is of such quality that it really needs to be placed in a room inside the living room surrounded by bullet proof glass as it is art quality.

Fit n Finish is Top Notch, hell yes.:whoop:

Go to a showroom and check these hounds out for yourself. If you think an HD is better, I will sell you a fully modded and sweet HD, yet is not in the same leauge as the Hound.

Do we even need to try to compare performance to a HD cruiser?

Oh yeah, mpg runs between 40-55.:2thumbs:

Good luck in your quest (we all went down that same path)

Everybody always ruits for there own brand. Big dog was better and that's why they are still in business. For how long, I don't know.
I'm not tooting a horn for AIH.......

BD puts out a decent product, but no better than any of the other "production manufactures" that built bikes either. I looked at many different products before ordering what I have.

That was a loaded question from the start on a Big Dog site. Like asking guys on a Camaro site if fit & finish is better than that of a Mustang or Challenger.

As far as your statement as to why BD is still in business, I'll kindy disagree there too (Coleman $$$).

carry on

They sold more bikes that left them more money to lose. I do agree that any normal business owner would of folded.

Good for you, look forward to seeing the pictures and possibly up close and personal some day. Hopefully you will be trouble free and get many enjoyable miles out of her and a long line of good memories.

If you do run into the occasionaly pain, this is the best place to get directions to get the old Dog back up and hunting.
