Which OEM bike is my bike compatable with. I am thinking of getting an open primary kit?

Your thought and suggestions on open primary?

Baker makes the best belt drive its the same guy that builds the wet primary and trans. I have one and i love it, they use stainless steel pullys and 14mm belt teeth, and an outside bearing support, and a 12 plate clutch assembely go to baker drivetrain.com

I just went to Baker's site, and the belt they offer for our application is only 2.4 inches wide. If I'm going to go to the expense of an open primary, I want a 4, or 5 inch wide belt.

at 4-6 inches you loose the advantage of the balanced drive system. at 2.4" and 14mm the belt is probably just as strong as a 5" 8mm belt, and remember the final drive belt is only 1.25" and 14mm. I have done all the engine mods and i am at 131hp and 143tq. and i ride hard and my belt shows know sign of wear or stress.

Can't argue with points you are making, and you seem to have a great set up. I guess I'm kind of looking at the wow factor, and look of a wide belt.

What Reaper is trying to say as politically correct as one can be "SIZE DOES MATTER!" lol

Thanks I love my dog, also the wider you go the more it will interfear with your left side riding and foot position, and trust me the baker belt drive looks great I get complements on it everywhere I go, and the 12 plate clutch is awsome.

they also the folks that make our wonderful transmissions that constantly mess up and charge us out the wazoo to fix

I dont no about the balance issue as I have not noticed it, at 90 miles an hour or 60 I can let go of the handle bars and my bike tracks straight so if the belt drive was weighing my bike to the left I reckon I wood notice it espaically since I got the 5 inch drive with the Phirrania cluth instead of the junior as far as cornering the pegs drag way before the drive ever wood, I looked at the Baker reel hard before I bought my drive if you look at the way Jim builds the Karata and have seed both drives in person there haint no question and thats why I went with the Karata now the real deal is this: ya the baker isnt as wide so you may wood get a little more room but thats only when your sittin at a light but the only real reason that any of us are using these drives boils down to Kool points and I do not understand why any one wood think a Baker is kooler than a Karata if youve ever heard one, cause except when your standing by your bike haint nobody gonna tell you much

I am not saying that the Karata is not an excellent drive but the the engineering that Baker put into his belt drive was well thought out from the stainless steel pulleys vs alluminum hard anodized or not and the use of the 14mm belt vs 8mm, the dog bone outer bearing support. But if your one of those guy's that need bigger more impressive things, well you know what they say about that, you might be over compensating for something not so impressive!!! just saying

IMHO i would definetely go with the Karata! Have never heard about any problem with it!
Neither mechanic or with the balance issue. I think 9 of every 10 owners here with 05 and newer bikes and open primaries have the Karata.

Baker is almost hidden, discreet, delicate... Karata looks fckinsweet badass!
Go with the one you like!!!
My .02 anyway.

PS have always driven LSD bikes, HDs and so, even the dog before the K9 was LSD. When i rode the K9 I couldnt noticed the difference in stability or whatsoever... I guess im so excited drivin that lil details scape from me.
