It makes a lot of sense to put in the cam and then set the carb. Make sure your micanantic has a lot of jets! I once bought a Revtec 100 motor and thought if a E carb was good a G carb would be great! Put the carb on the bike and it ran bad... 4 hours later after trying 10 different jet settings my buddy who owned a chopper shop and was helping me laughed and said "Well, you are back to an E carb jetting"

So..... later I saw the Reveria long intake manifold and thought "cool". Bought one, put it on and the bike ran like crap. Took it to my buddy. 2 hours of swapping out jets it ran well but had no power..... The final jets we installed to make it run smooth were smaller than the E carb jets. Finally took off the whole set up and bought an E carb.... A $900 lesson. You should be ok with the G carb and the right jets. Good luck....

All the good I have heard from pulling restrictors on my 05 117"
With 585 cam and Super G I had to try it.
I get it back Saturday and will let all know jet settings

Appreciate everyone's input and wish we could all get together for a Big Dog Convention somewhere soon!!

While riding back to the mechanic to return so he could install 585 and rejet I noticed a high pitch shreak from the trans while in 5th gear; I slowed down and dropped in 4th and hit the gas to climb back to 5th and did it again.........shreak from RS.

My mechanic installed the 585 with 31/76 jets and he says that it is a powerhouse and runs great. He also heard the shreak and is looking into my transmission..........maybe a bearing I don't know and found all this out yesterday so will update asap.

This absolutely busted my balls as I was all ready to ride with 585 and Super G and now I have tranny problems.

Let all know outcome soon.

I would have your mechanic pull the clutch push rod and see if it's greased up. My ridge had a squeal, I took my push rod out and lubed it. The squeal was gone. Also your pressure plate bearing can make that noise also, if it's going bad...

Update ..........installed 585 cam with 33/76 jets and runs like a champ, pulls hard low end and plenty of top end for my riding style; so glad I made the change.
As to the high pitch squeal for my trans the countershaft retaining bolt was backing out thru the seal and all the way to inner primary.
Flushed all shavings and checked endplay of mainshaft and all is ok but will send trans to Andrew Barnes at earliest convenience.
Dave Welch at Chopper City Orange Park FL performed the service; check out his website at Chopper City USA; beautiful custom bikes.

See attached pictures for seal failure
Franco can probably blow these up for all to view.
Thx all for you help..........I recommend the Super G and 585 to all on a budget.

Franco/Brew what is the next upgrade I need; ignition?

If you had a super E and replaced it with a super G the jets are WAY too big for your motor. I did that a few years back and it did the same thing. Wound up putting in small jets which in reality made it back into a super E.... waste of time and money.
:agree: his engine probably has the smaller valves for emissions.

Big Dog only did it for a year I think, that's another reason they went to the 117 CI.
