Appreciate that. First let me say this is deepest i've taken my dog apart. Learning from this foresure. Can that backing plate on the basket just be replaced, thats what came apart?Nothing else seems to be damaged other than a some light gouging on the backside of the inner primary.

To bad it didn't break till now, mine was done under warranty before I got the bike. 05 had an issue, I found scars on my inner primary and later found what had happened.

Bandit Clutch rock! I have the BDM Carrier (new style) still but the complete Bandit basket and clutch!:2thumbs:

Everything you describe is typical and has happened to several members here. You'll find lots of pics and info on your problem. I'm not sure if bandits hub works with the stock clutch or not. I bought the entire setup. Someone will chime in or you can check out thier website or give them a call. Good job getting it off. Some obstacles like left handed threads that can sneak up on you if you are unaware. Be sure to search this site for the proper way to torque your clutch hub nut or that will be a reoccurring problem as well.

While you've got it apart bite the bullet and put a good one in it. You'll kick yourself in the ass if it breaks again. If you plan on keeping it. IMO

Put a call into bandit and left a message. Will see what the upgrade will cost me since it is apart at the moment. Nothing else i'll go with putting the baker upgrade in. As it was pointed out, dont want to put a stock back in, appreciate the offers though fellas. Thanks for the reponses. Gotta the love the big dog community.

I have the Bandit carrier with the stock clutch. Works perfectly. Will upgrade the clutch when it finally wears out.

the new upgraded carrier are stamped 3053A i thought?? looks like same carrier to me??
Look at the shape of the holes, the distance to the threads where the break is. The holes in the new one look like backwards "D's". The changes the angle of the hole beefing up the bolt hole side. The pic of the new one is the one I have in my bike that came from Gasman. The part number is the same but they are different animals.

nothing like confusing the consumer!! i was under the impression that the 3053 were the junk ones and the upgraded were the 3053A/3054A!! always learning and thanks for info , wonder why baker wouldnt replace stamping for warranty work when we had warrantees

I had initially had been leaking primary fluid through the pulley and was in the process of replacing the seals is why I noticed the backing plate being broken. It looks like maybe the fluid was being pushed through the push rod slot. Noticed according to my manual for the 05 that theres a seal that goes on the rod. Question is, does that seal go on the pulley side or the clutch side of the push rod? I never saw any seal on the rod. I ask because according to the manual theres a boot that goes on the end of the push rod, according to baker that boot is not needed. My boot had all but rotted away. Was wondering if thats what may have happened to the seal.
