My fellow Big Doggers, i am looking for the little rubber caps that go on what looks like a barb fittings on the air intake side of the carburetor manifold. It has a small wire tie holding it on. They have dry rotted and need to be replaced. I'm sure some of you guys have a simple alternative for this tiny piece.

Go to Auto parts store and get a set of vacuum line caps. Get small zip ties and your Good To GO. I picked it up for $1.50 and means I am an Avionic Tech I have zip ties in all sizes

Then after you put those on re-adjust your carb.

I think thats what your talking about if it isnt PM me

It had no use on the Big Dog. But Big Dog used off the shelf items and those lines are capped on 03 and 04 dogs I know. Not sure on others.

I have a picture somewhere but cant find it while at "Work"

Found the same problem on mine saturday. My carb has 2 that are capped. I removed the other cap, took some good vacuum line hose and ran the line from one to the other. Zipped tied both ends to the barbs. Good to go.

you put a tube from one to the other? Did that make it run idle differently?

It was acting up a little and that's how I found one of them was split almost off at the top. My solution was to connect the two together since the were both capped. Bike seemed to run fine. If this is not a good thing, inform me what issues it may create. I usually take my bike to the shop for everything. I just do not have the skills other than general maintenance like oil changes.

Run it down the road check your plugs (If good than Must work) I just know to cap them because it runs like hell without it being capped

I'll put it out on the road this weekend and roll some miles up to see. After I connected the 2 together I only put about 15 miles on her. One thing that it's started doing that has me puzzled is it has started popping thru the exhaust on deceleration. I think the carb needs re-jetting and tuned. I had the bike out in ABQ New Mexico for about 1 year and had the carb worked on out there. Never had the problem in ABQ. Since I've brought the bike back to SC it just started. What concerns me is, it was not doing it when I fist got back and did some ridding. There is a elevation difference of about 6,000+ feet between ABQ where I was staying and SC where home is. I did find a post on here about the popping on deceleration. If i understood one of the answers it read like it means the bike is in tune the way it should be. The bike does have Vance & Hinds 2 into 2 Big Radius pipes with baffles.

The elevation of ALQ ranges from 4,900 feet above sea level near the Rio Grande Valley to over 6,700 feet. If your in SC you need rejetting in a BAD WAY. SC is sea level to MAYBE 1000 feet (MAYBE)

Rejetting is easy just takes alot of time to fine the right one. You may want to post on another thread or do a search and see what others are running out there in SC

You are running way to Rich my Guess and bet your plugs are Black or REALLY REALLY Dark Brown

My 2 cents

Thanks for input. I'll do some searching here and if nothing comes up I'll do a new post for input on what others are running here in SC.
I need to become a supporting member for this site. Love it!!

Thanks for the info!! :flag: Looks like the two dry rotted and broke off at the top. I was wondering why the bike began to run like crap!! I was lucky that a friend of mine pointed that out to me.
