Ok, Yesterday I was riding my dog and was coming down a pretty steep hill and i heard a nasty rattling\grinding noise and notice my bike jerk a little, so i limpped her home (only a couple miles) actually heard it agian on the way (level road)... So i was thinking about the clutch hub nut and thought maybe i was that so i pulled my primary cover off today only to find a broken chunk of metal laying in the bottom of cover (uh oh) so upon further inspection i noticed the chunk came from the front sprocket, right behind the nut (front) there is a cover of some sort that is distorted and cracked, I took a mirror and looked behind it and noticed that where the chunk broke out of... I need to know what that part is and how to replace it, I dont have a service manual and not sure where to even look for the part. My bike is a 2004 Ridgeback 117ci...Any help will be GREATLY apprieciated!!! Thank you. Im going to try und upload a couple pics too if I can figure it out lol...

That is the Compensator Spring

Look in the How To section on replacing the Stator. It's all there

And no need to start a new thread when you have the other one going. Everyone see's all the threads when you come in and click on the "New Posts" :)

You have a broken compensator spring you can get on from J&P for about $ 30.00 I just replaced mine The nut that holds it on is torked to 150 ft pounds and takes a 1 1/2" socket to get it off their is one size compensator that fits about all harleys & BD up to 04 Hope this helps you. You can wedge rags or a piece of somthing plastic in the chain to break the nut loose and clean threads and apply red locktite and re tork to 150 ft lbs of tork. Good luck:cheers:The 05 & after do not have this part.

Thanks for Doc, and the quick response... The housing is worn through and cracked to... Is that all one part or will I have to buy it separate?
