My bike was bought new in 04 by a friend, he put 12,000 trouble free miles on it, then offered it to me for a price i couldnt pass up. I knew full well of the ehc problems others have had, but are there any bikes out there that have run this long with no problems? I also should mention my ehc looks nothing like any of the ones ive seen on other big dogs but it says big dog directly on it.

Thanks in advance for any help, ive done alot of searching on here but no solid answers to my question.

First off welcome to the forum. Second, do yourself a favor and do an intro before you get . If you have not had any problems with the EHC I would not worry to much about it. If I recall correctly the 04 EHC was a single year or 2 year run with the 05's before they changed them out. If the EHC goes bad just do a simple rewire which will solve your problem.

Like the old saying...if it aint broke.... Ride it till it breaks and fix it then. My 04 crapped out and I went with Wire Plus. No issues to date.

My '04 died this summer; did a re-wire. Don't worry about it, just enjoy the ride and when the time comes (and it will), asking a few questions on this forum will steer you right. Good luck.

Folks, I m new to this forum and new owner of a 2007 K9. I have not actually seen the bike in person as of yet. I was aware of electrical issues as my neighbor had it with his 2005 ridgeback. I asked the dealer if the EHC fix was on this bike but he did not know. Two questions: 1) did the 2007 suffer from this issue? 2) Once i get the bike how can I tell if a fix has been put in place?

Got an 04 Mastiff myself. Did the WP change late this summer at about 15K miles. No sweat. I've done a few other odds and ends, some needed some for fun. Mostly just PM so I'd know what was done to it. Didn't know the previous owner. Now, I just ride. I've put on 7K in the last two years since I bought it. Great ride! Always a smile on my face...
