'04 Mastiff cutting out....EHC problems???

Hey Vet, share some part numbers. I can't find anything on their website or Jireh catalog that will work with the dog controls. My dealer is trying to push an adaptor board on me, have you ever done something with this...what is it? Is it worth a darn?
I don't have the part number, but call them and ask for Marlon. they have been changing out wire harness on BD's for a while. If you have an earlier BD with the Harley style switches, they have a set up that will mount right up. later models require the replacement of the keyswitch to a high amperage switch. It's a nice set up and it will fit in the space that the old EHC fit in with about half the connectors.

I don't think that they state in the catalogs or their website what fits BD, but If you give em a call, they'll know what you need.

IIRC there was the occasional problem with the little connectors for the ignition coil getting smashed under the gas tank as well....that one will really make y0ou chase your tail for a while.
:zz2cents:
That's food for thought! I have had cut-out issues for about three years now, the first of which made me miss the cathouse run at Street Vibrations in '05. I may give Wire Plus a call.....

I know this thread is about a month old - but I was considering an 01 mastiff for my first dog. I've searched this forum and the net in general , could only find a few writups/reviews of the 01 mastiff - main complaint seemed to be electrical/reliability problems?

Is this true (01 mastiff probs) and if it is - is the fix for it the same as in this thread? thx for any opinions or suggestions :)

Xodus the 01-03 were a little different. They use alot of the HD type stuff and nothing was really proprietary to BD. They changed things in 04 like the handlebars, controls and EHC. You shouldn't have any problems with the 01. Just my 2 cents and some of the others will chime in.

I've got an '01 Mastiff. Couple of things. Many of the tank liners went bad breaking down into thousands of pieces so make sure you have a fuel filter in line. Electronics were/are and continue to be a nightmare. A total re-wire is a must. The only thing you can't re-wire is the speedo. Everything else have converted to circuit breakers or you will have a problem every other time you go out. No other problems but a rewire is a must, trust me.

thx for the replies - is the rewire something that I can buy as a package/kit and install, or does it require piecing the stuff together then working it out as i go?

I'm reasonably good working on stuff, but having recently replaced/upgraded the entire brake system on a 68 mustang I'm not sure I want another major project on a new (to me) motorcycle ... one weekend of work, ok... but any longer and I'd probably throw more things through the garage wall ( i do sheetrock too:D )
