04 Chopper starter

Does anyone have experience with putting a Compu-fire GEN III starter on a 04 chopper ?

Mine is due for replacement and I was considering the GEN III.

O.K. Just got back from the mechanic and the Compu-fire Gen III is definately out. He said that the Compu-fire electronic components are not holding up, as he has a pile of them in the back corner of the shop. I am going with the Baker. It's on order and will be in Tuesday. By Friday I will have the starter and a new back tire installed.

Any reason why you didn't go with a stock starter. We have sponsors here that can get you one less expensive.
Also, did you look at Spyke? They made the BD starters up tilll 03 or 04 if I'm not mistaken.

Local mechanic says my stock starter is 1.3 KW. The Baker is 2.3 KW. He swears that the Baker will out last the stock by at least 2 times. With the cost of going into the primary included, it does sound cheaper if the Baker is as good as he says. Do you think that is accurate ?

I am new to the pound and am not familiar with Spyke's. I will have to look for their web site. In the future, How do I check with the sponsers first ?

You would probably save yourself some bucks bby doing it yourself. There are plenty of knowlegeable fellas on this forum. I had mine replaced 2 years ago and the bill was $482 or some shit like that. Then add what they're gonna bang you for the tire and install.
