hello everyone, just curious, my speedometer is working fine but in the past 2 years the inside of the speedometer lens started accumulating a reddish haze and dust like buildup. anyone know what causes this or how to clean it out? also i noticed when i was the bike a few water drops get behind the glass sometimes.

Thanks!

the moisture droplets/fogging is a normal thing with these speedometers. alot of people have gone with the "dakota digital" brand available from MadDog here on the site. the red dust very well could be from something inside the housing rusting.

I agree with the moisture and also the rust theory, but my rust theory is just a guess for me as I haven't had this issue, but I do have firsthand knowledge of the moisture issue. But mine doesn't fog up as much any more since the rubber boot over the reset button rotted off.:job:

Edited my earlier post to try not to sound quite so much as an a-hole. I didn’t mean to call anyone else’s advice a theory, only my own ramblings.

Just replace it with a Dakota Digital from Don at Value Tech (link is on main page). Taking the original apart is a pain. I have a "How To" on doing it but its a pain.

no bad intent taken  we were both shooting from the hip not having seen even a picture of the problem. one person's guess is as good as anothers. :2thumbs::2thumbs:
