Hello, new to the group. Have an 03 Pitbull. Was riding with no problems, then the speedometer got stuck at 15mph, but the miles are still counting. I’ve check all wires, new battery and connections are clean. Any ideas?

Not sure on your year bike, but when you turn your key on is the speedo supposed to do a sweep? Like a self check?

Yes. The speedo use to do the sweep when key is turned to the on position. It did Sweep the day it stopped working. I was riding and notice it was stuck at 40mph, then it started working again, then it got stuck at 15mphh and has not moved since. I’m thinking the speedo might just be bad, but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas. I’m willing to replace it, but would like to keep the miles accurate. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

A long shot here....but did you check/clean the speed sensor? Should be one somewhere on the trans? There are replacements speedos out there and most will offer to set the mileage. Without seeing or knowing the history of the motorcycle, it sounds like it may be on it's way out.

Yep, pulled the sensor, check it and cleaned it. Thanks, I will start looking for a new speedo.

This may be too late to help you but these Speedos were known for the wires coming unsoldered, you have to remove it and actually take it all apart to where you get to the casing and then actually open the casing where the wires go in and resolder the wires there are how too's here on the website this has been an issue for many many many years
