seems a bit pricey....is it chromed out or have a ton of extras on it? i would go another 2 or 3k for an '05- '06. wider rear tire and better resale.

2003 is a good year, very little problems on those. Majority of the parts are standard HD stuff so easily replacable!

Tough call without pics, or knowing if any work has been done. Unless there is some serious work done 10k is a bit pricey for an 03. I would lean towards 8k maybe 8.5k. I know book value doesn't matter too much on these bikes but I would also have to say its probably nowhere near 10k.

I wish I had more money.
03 was the last of the good years. I would say if the bike is in good shape and he really likes it then it's worth every penny. 03 BABY! Booya!

got an 03 the only problems I had were starter
got my starter solenoid rebut for 50 bucks and it all works great
all HD parts like a soft tail with a bad ass SS motor
would not sell mine for anything less then 10k
and it has twice the miles on it plus

9,700.00 is what I paid for my 02 PitBull last year and I love the Dog. Worth every damn penney of it to me anyway. Lot of people think I'm crazy, but fck em, none of them own a dog either. Another thing is, it's 10 years old and still will draw a crowd and thumbs up at redlights. Also, there's not another one like it that I've seen yet.

Whole sale is $7,230 and Retail is $10,250. Everybody has an opinion on what they are worth but this is what a bank looks at. I have an '03 that I got an exceptional deal on. Normal wear and tear and expect routine maintenance (just like anything with tits or wheels). I love mine. I would love to add some more dogs to the pen as well someday. Check to see what other extras it has. That increases value...Despite what others may say or think. The less you have to spend on buying parts...the more you'll have to drink with!

The 03's are great bikes, I love mine. they are pretty bullet proof. just check the vin to see if any recalls were addressed.

I have an 03 chopper that I bought 3 seasons ago for 12K. It had 10K on it, and it now has 28K. No issues at all, and best part is, most of the parts are stock everyday Harley or aftermarket parts.

I know I am partial but I like the '03's.
Starting in '04 everything became homogenized BDM parts.
Personally I would not spend $3K more for an '05-'06. Why? Because they will be newer but will depreciate about the same as the '03 has. As my local shop told me, no choppers are holding their values right now. It's not the 'in thing' anymore...which is fine by me!
ALL bikes depreciate now. None hold their value. So to me, the best buy is the one you get the best price on. ;)

Own a 2002 Pitbull no problems, bought it with 8500 miles for 7600.00and have well over 12000 on it in less than a year. No real problems , love the dog.

Looking forward to retirement
pay the money and have compression releases installed. The heads are already tapped for it, Just connect the positive side to the starter relay so they engage when you press the start switch.

I love my 03 Chopper. I have had a few issues with it but I ride hard ALL the time. Definently check the frame for any cracks, mainly around the neck. 03 did have a recall and that was the main reason. I haven't had that issue and it is a relatively minor fix if caught early (thats what I was told, a little welding and paint touch up) Negotiate the price a bit but don't shy away if he loves it. They are extremely comfortable no matter how far you go and they run like the wind. Plus, like it was pointed out earlier, everything is interchangeable with HD that year so parts are easy to come by
