If / when you guys find struts..I have a stock sissy bar for 03 Chopper DT frame for sale.. I had a custom flame bar made.(See Backrest Installed)

At this point Im just gonna start from scratch and learn to work with metal, fab a steel fender up on an english wheel to match my stock fiberglass one and weld some bungs onto the sides and bend me some round bar.

What about using some of the later struts that are much beefier and doing some lite fabrications to? Should only need some drilling for mounting the fender.

I thought about that myself...has anyone tryed it yet? ... Iam watching some struts and sissy bar (for an 03,04 RT frame chopper) on ekbay 499.00 starting bid when all the other models are dirt cheap starting around 150.00...

A friend of mine has a 05 RT chopper...I was going to do some checking to see if one of his old struts would work on mine.. After measuring it looks dam close, and if need "tweaking" theres a machine shop about 200 yards from my shop... This has got to work!!!

Steve, I'm very interested in this. Think you might point out what exactly doesn't match between the two strut models? Maybe with a picture.

If the "tweaking" is minor, then it will be well worth going this way.

I`ll find out tomorrow he`s bringing the old struts of his 05RT chopper by here and I`ll try them out that night... Taken pictures along with it to.. hopefully it works...we`ll see :willy_nilly:

The 05 RT struts will fit... I did some research and looked at alot rear ends !! but here is the difference..tail light location..I put some pictures together so you guys can see it.... some of ya might recognize some of these bikes ....800 bucks for an 03 sissy bar kit is bull**** :willy_nilly:

I only thing I dont like about those struts is the sissy bar is mounted from the rear of the strut and turns up for the backrest. I just dont like the look. Even if I have to spend a little more by doing some fabrication to get the look that Im looking for I will.

Please correct me If I'm wrong, But doesn't the Shovelheadkicker Ebay account also belong to you????

I only ask this because we just had a guy that was banned for tooting his own horn as 3 different members here to increase his sales and reputation and not being forthcoming. If you are indeed Shovelheadkicker I believe it is in the best interest of this forum to let our members know.

I understand that as BDPKP you are a sponsor but your post leads to assume that it is a different person.
