before everyone starts with the “dumbass” comments I have already been smacking myself in the head - I am putting Chopper back together and remounting rear tire, in the process one of my kids picked up the axle and all pieces slid off and of course I didn’t take photos. I have put it back together to the best of my memory and all measurements prior to removal line up EXCEPT the tire rubs on frame on brake cylinder(right side) - can someone give a breakdown of rear axle set up - please
Thank You

Welcome from Virginia.

Theres a link on here to the service manual. Search for member BrOADBAND or bdm7250. They have dropbox links to the manuals. Post some pictures when you get her back together

The long one goes on the left side.( Belt sprocket side.) The two short ones go on either side of the brake caliper bracket. The long one, and one of the short ones, have a lip on them. The lips go against the bearings.

would we call anybody a dumbass ????? well, maybe, but only because most of us have, at one time, been there and done that. good luck with the re-build. and post some pics when you get it back together, or anytime you feel like it. we like pics.

See? That wasn’t a dumb question. It’s great you’re letting the kids get involved and “help “ ya fix the bike!

Is it possible that the wheel is not aligned? How does the belt track when ya spin the wheel? I had a slight misalignment that caused the tire to rub the belt . After squaring things up it tracks perfectly. Just a thought!

Welcome to the forum from ohio. We all respect someone who works on their own bikes. I always say if you don't do anything you will never fuck anything up. Good luck. Post pics.

After realizing what I had titled the post - let’s keep photos here
This is my 1st Big Dog rebuild, I purchased from a salvage yard back in July and the biggest fun has been trying to find all parts and pieces for an ‘03. Enjoy photos
I’ll update as I progress....
