A little trouble today with my 08 K9. Went for a short ride and stopped at the store for a minute. When I tried to start the bike nothing, it was like the switch was dead no click nothing. Had power all lights worked. Put it in gear and pushed it back and forth a little and starter button worked. Tried several times when I got home works fine. Starter is not that old, any ideas?

Provided the run button had been selected first , when the start button is selected the EHC activates the compression releases and the starter at the same time. Your symptom (no click/no crank) would indicate that the EHC malfunctioned or the switches didn't work to tell the EHC what to do. Most likely culprit is the Rt side control brd. This tutorial is great for testing it.

I have a DOC system, been trouble free since install. I did have slam button on my old starter and never put it on this new one. It wasn't recommended for DOC system but I don't know why. Everything is working fine right now. I did look at the right side controls have to do some testing. Thanks

This might sound stupid or totally in the wrong direction, but when trouble shooting I believe we all reach out for all suggestions in hope at least one crazy idea works!!
I have never had any trouble with my 09 Mastiff But one time went to fire the beast up and zero nothing! Believe this or not I unplugged the horn relay and pushed it back in making sure I had metal to metal contact Bingo fired right up and I never looked back!

Following the video that Mikeinjersey posted I tested the start connection in the right handlebar housing. When using a jumper wire between connections starter engaged correctly. I cleaned all connections plugged back in using dielectric grease, starter button works fine. Could it be that easy?
Yes, sometimes it’s just that simple. I was having the same issue. I followed the video and everything checked out fine. Another culprit could be the rubber/silicone buttons are just worn enough to not make proper contact with the board. Getting new buttons are fairly inexpensive. If you didn’t want to get new buttons, you could add just a small dab of hot glue or rubber compound to the back side of the rubber/silicone buttons. That should work out. I have done that with a few different applications.

K9 won't start again today, push the start button and nothing. Hit the newly installed slam button and it made a grinding noise and turned over. Tried later and nothing. I guess it wasn't a dirty connection on the start button.

First thing I do when having any trouble.
Pull your seat and look at the ignition module. When you turn the key and hit run you should see a red light come on. If it does you have power to the ignition. That is all you need for the bike to run. If you don't get the light the bike will not start. If you push the slam button in and you get no response or a weak response your problem is likely a poor ground on the starter , a weak or discharged battery or less likely a bad starter itself. Have the battery load tested it's the best way to evaluate it's condition.
When you get the bike running check to see that your charging system is working.

Can't find any other problems so far. shoulder is getting so bad can't ride anyway. Almost wrecked last time out, maybe time to sell, I can just let it set and look at it.
View attachment 118805look at it.
I feel your pain Brother. My right shoulder is shot the f@&k out. Long rides are sometimes a struggle but I have never enjoyed anything like riding these motorcycles in my life. So I will keep riding as long as I can hold onto the bars and control the throttle. Even if it is just around town. That bike is beautiful! Cheers  To safe rides!:chopper:
