Speedo

I have an 03 Pitbull. My speedo works intermittenly. I took the sensor out the other day and noticed that then end had been rubbing against something and it looks worn. Would this be my problem or the speedo.

I don't know the answer but I do remember Ohmster saying that if the speedo sometimes works and sometimes doesn't immediately after start up it is usually the battery not having enough juice after cranking

Thanks Lee, but the battery is good. It seems like the sensor is not picking up. It comes and goes at all speeds.

CC, I had that issue with my 03 (years ago!!!) and replacing the sensor corrected the issue.

That would be lunch for 2 Mcgroom.. I work in the big city where nothing is cheap.

There are two different length sensors one for 5 speeds and one for six speeds.

I have an 07 K9. I'm on my 3rd Speedo. It worked perfectly on the ride home from the shop. But, after riding about 50 miles that weekend, this 3rd one is shot too. Gets condensation in it and the needle bounces all over the place, and is currently stuck in the buried position. I've pretty much just given up and have just learned to deal with it. Since my bike is not even a year old yet, it's still under warranty, so I'll try to get another speedo, but I don't have much faith in it working.

How many speedos has everyone else been through?

There are two different length sensors one for 5 speeds and one for six speeds.

DV what is the differance. Is it just the length? I just ordered one from BD partskingpin and it said for 5 and 6 speed trannys. Should get it in a couple of days.

Omaha. my speedo is differant from the one you guys have. I have the old model which I think went up to 04 or 05.
