We had great weather on Saturday. Several of us had made appointments with Steel Dreams, our most excellent dealer, about 60 miles north of Seattle.

Mrs. P8RIOT and I were waiting at the ferry terminal to meet up with Raywood and ChopperK9Rider, when I saw a flash of red a block away, and it turned out to be HDLarry, who had tracked us down to join the ride.

Four of us rumbled north, enjoying an easy cruise of 70 - 80, weaving smoothly around the slower traffic.

A few hours later, KnotSo showed up at the dealer with his big truck 'n trailer, to retrieve his bike with the new clutch cable - he had popped it the previous weekend. Meanwhile, I rode around the block a few times to keep cool and make sure my bike was sound - all was well, so I shut it down.

Ready to go, I tried to fire it up again, but got flashing lights on the speedo, and no starter spin at all. Fortunately, we were still sitting in the dealer parking lot, but it was closing time.

Regardless, their mechanic popped off the seat, did some fast trouble shooting, and measured 12.17 volts on the battery - brought out the jumper box and started it up - still 12.17 volts at the battery, so there's no charge going on - checked the circuit breaker - that's in, so he pulled off the plug down on front by the Voltage Regulator and checked voltage there. Conclusion - the VR had gone out. No smoke or flames, just dead.

Hmmm - past quiting time by now. I told 'em I'd catch a ride home with Knotso, and they could work on it next week, but oh no, that's not how their treat their customers at OUR dealership. The mechanic stayed late on a beautiful Saturday night and replaced the VR, charged the battery up, and away we went.

Meanwhile, KnotSo had stayed to kept me and Mrs. P8RIOT company, even drove us around in his big rig to find some dinner, and we just generally had a good time.

Great dealer, great mechanic, great friends, and the P8RIOT Puppy is back in good health. It just doesn't get any better than that!

Whatever happened to great customer service like that? It seems nowadays that it doesn't exist.....glad to hear that it still does in some parts!

P8RIOT, it's great to hear a good customer service story like that. You know, it's a shame that we all feel so good about a story like that when it really should be the norm, huh?
