Looking at a 2006 from 'new' inventory

Hey all, new member here getting ready to jump into the BD family. I currently ride a VTX, which I have outgrown, and have a need to ride a BD, after taking one out for test spin this week.

I am currently looking at a 2006 Ridgeback from the local dealer's 'new' inventory (as in, it would still come with the full 2 year warranty). There is actually a choice of 2 they still have - one a black with old school flame, and the other, an interesting Candy Grape with switchblade accent.

Just wondering what kind of discount you BD owners think is worth even looking at for a 2 year old model, versus just going after an 08 model with the $3k cash back.

Anything specific about the 06's (issues) that I should ask about and keep an eye out for as well?

Thanks!

Ready to ride the Big Dog  ... Your life will never be the same :2thumbs: ... I would just make sure any of the recalls have been addressed on those motorcycles...then make your best deal...

I figure you should be able to get 5k -7k off MSRP  ?....3k for 08 and additonal 3k-4k off for being a 2 year old bike...or at least credit for additional parts...They may work with you :SEX: ....Let us know the deal you get! You may want to wait on someone who just bought a 06 from a dealer.....and find out the straight scoop... Good Luck hunting my friend :choppersmiley: ..

Exactly, please get some pics of the new 06 bikes. We'll help you pick one for sure. If they hav two 06 bikes that are new, I say you need to get a good deal for sure.

I think the local dealer is updating their site this weekend, as their menu is new, but no bikes are coming up now.

I figured I'd wait until I have a new BD available before setting up my new profile.

I'm kinda on the fence with the two 06's right now. I am a Black and Chrome type of guy, and while the Candy Grape sounds like its an attention getter, I'm not sure I can give up the Black. If the other one (Black) didn't have the old school flames on it, I'd probably go for that one, but I'm not a fan of those style flames.

IF you go to the BDM graphics website, they are the first one on page 7.

Here are a couple of (poor) shots of the Grape bike. Sorry for the bad quality, it was taken with my cell phone...

BDM is offering 4K off the '07 no questions asked. I would expect at least 6K off for an '06 but with a little haggling you could do much better I would think. Those bikes, while new, are seriously depreciated in value.

what do they want for them , let us know! first then we can give you feed back! [i would be looking for $10.000 off]
The 06's are at 25,900.

This is in the midwest. The prices could mean different things in different parts of the country though.

Freedom Rider had 2008 k9s for under 26000. They are in Fresno California I don't know if they had any 2006 Ridgebacks and I can't pull up the web site today. This was before the 3000 off from B.D.

This sounds familiar. I wonder if BDM told everyone to shut down the sites until they got all their late season pricing figured out and in sync. Maybe some dealers have been complaining...

Do you think they really depreciate that much over the extra year span?
Maybe its just me, but why would I buy a bike that is several model years old if the price didn't reflect that fact. I think, given the economy, the demand is down -- price should reflect that. 26K is 5k to 6K under list for an '08. Most dealers will discound off list. Dosn't sound like they are overpriced, just think you should be able to do a bit better.

I'm surprised there are still new 06 models still sitting in showrooms! You'd think somebody could get a smoking deal on em just to get them off the showroom floor!

As far as any kind of issues these bike may experience, any possible issue has more than likely been addressed on this site!

I almost agree with ya...i would pay just as if it was a used 06 with really low miles ..maybe a tad more but not much!!!

$20k out the door max.
Seriously? Even with the 2 year warranty?

I think I'd be happy with about 2k off of what they are currently asking. We'll see how it goes this week. I haven't had a chance to look at the paint on their one 08 that they have left yet (it was at a show on the weekend).

If I can get close to the same price on the 08, I'll probably go with that one.
