Stumbles above 70mph

2009 K9 117 cammed, Runs like a champ. Smooth all the way to 70MPH. But if cruising at 70 and want to pass, it acts like it is running out of gas. I have to play with the throttle blipping it to get it going faster. Anyone ever experience something similar? At first I was thinking wrong jets, but I would assume I would experience the same symptoms at all speeds off idle. Is it possible for a fuel line to start to colapse due to increased vaccuum at that speed? I'm just thinking out loud here.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hey now Mick! The 117 is a good motor. They were just a victim of a bad situation. The stock cams were terrible. Once you drop in a good cam, they are as strong as any 107 that I've ridden, which was quite a few. My bike constantly puts my ass on the rear fender when I whack the throttle.

If your problem just started and the motor use to run well you probably just need to drop the bowl and clean it along with the jets. This file will help you adj the carb. It could be incorrect jetting as you suspect but more likely a dirty main jet which gets involved above 3000rpm. The accelerator pump may be gooey and malfunctioning .
If you do drop the bowl look out for a tiny blue O-ring so you can put it back in place on the ejector nozzle.

Yeah, make sure everything is clean. If that checks out, the intermediate jet might need moved up a size. What kind of pipes are you running? If you are running open pipes with no baffles, you may need to move the air bleed jet up to a 60. Also check for intake leaks. With the engine idling, spray wd40 around the manifold where it bolts to the heads. If the idle changes, you have an intake leak.

I am a little late to the party here, but while in Florida this past winter I was have problems with mine chugging some.
Tried adjusting the carb as it was pretty warm this year during bike week (not complaining as it felt really nice) although you may be right about the fuel line collapsing, as that seem to have been my problem. replaced the fuel line and have not a a problem since.

Had a similar issue when I got mine several years ago. Ran fine til I stabbed it. It wound up being the fuel filter. Replace the line and filter from the tank to the carb. At least you'll know you're getting enough fuel. After that, I'd get into jets, then make sure no intake leaks. Good luck

Read the spark plug. Porcelain is white it says lean is mean. Porcelain sooty black, it's over rich and fouling plugs is the stumble.

Cam my be too top end happy so a shift down may be needed. Can't ride it to know a plug stumble or a fuel stumble so it's all a guess on our/my end.
