just as a side bar, what is the micron size of the k p. three piece units
being sold for s&s. motors[i was planing on going 5000 miles on the new type amsoil 25w50, with a filter clean at 2500 miles?

Why even bother? Just use a K&P

Costs. You'd likely never recoup the costs over the life of the bike and you'd gain nothing in efficiency. They're cool though.

depends on how many miles you do and/or how many times you change your oil. It only takes 9 oil changes to recoup at $15 per new oil filter.

Had K&P installed at 2500 - looking (and hoping) for a 'Dog with a long life!

The K&P tech sheets do not show as fine a level of filtration as the new Syn filters, so bought an oil scavenger to kind of offset that, and will maintain [relatively] short intervals between oil changes. It ain't about saving $$

Will have to look into the AMSOIL filters for the Hogs (distributor ~2 miles from house), but really love the nut on the end of the K&N filters.
