Headlight issue

Energy One
Putting a 2004 Ridgeback together. The person before me wired the headlight to a toggle switch bypassing the handlebar controls and EHC. So you have to believe he had an issue with the headlight. Original wiring was still in place, so I connected everything back to stock. As expected, the headlight does not work. There is no power to the headlight bulb nor is there power to the dimming switch. So, I have to believe it's the EHC. Does anyone know if this is a common problem with the EHC?

Thank you so much for the diagram. I think that simplifies things for me. I was not sure if the handlebar switch might be the problem. I think I now understand that the switch has nothing to do with power to the headlight. If there is no power coming out of the controller to the headlight it must be the controller or the pin connection at the controller. I will check the connection the best I can.
Again, thanks so much,
ZZ Chopper

Yes, the 04s EHCs were prone to having headlight and taillight issues. Similar to the 03 EHCs.
Elektronik has a great true plug n play replacement.
04 EHC replacement
Q to anyone and all - 03 Pitbull, headlamp (new) not working, front running/turn signals not working, rear bulbs light up but no action with brakes nor turn signals not working. Reading here I'm assuming there isn't a blown fuse somewhere? EHC? And if EHC, link states sold out. Any other options? TIA!

2004 Ridgeback. I had the headlight issue ... not working. Everything else works. I wired the headlight to a toggle switch (hi beam / low beam / off). I put the switch in the left side battery cover. Tapped into the rear license plate light wiring under the seat for a keyed power source. I'll run it this way until I have another electrical problem. At that point I plan to make my own simple wiring harness. and get rid of the ECM completely. I've done it on custom bikes. Putting everything on its own fuse really cleans everything up and about the only thing that can go wrong is a short. I actually long forward to that day.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! Love this bike more than my boat and keep dumping mula into her.
Hello all - purchased and received the EHC. Installing it now. Couple of questions, as working on my bikes again is new to me after years on the track with a mechanic/tuner.

1. Do I disconnect the battery to connect/install the EHC? And, do I do the same for the splice into the Start Module?

2. Which one is the Start Module? The BD4121-1D sitting on the battery or the ThunderHeart attached to the rear fender? Can provide pics if needed.

3. Maybe dumb q - is there a difference to a START Modular and Ignition Module (internet search states ignition module is the ThunderHeart but the Orange splicing wire is visibly on the BD4121-1D)? Want to make sure I am splicing the correct wire.

TIA!

Definitely disconnect the battery. I would recommend calling Curtis at WSW. He can certainly provide you with all the information you need to get the new EHC set up & functioning properly. Of course Knothead has done enough of them that I am certain he will be able to answer those questions to. Good luck! Happy New Year!

Yes I agree with Mick. Disconnect battery until all wiring is done. Im a little confused is your bike a 2004 or 2003? The diagram I posted was for a 2004. When I replaced my EHC it only had two plugs.
Thanks, yes messaged Curtis and he confirmed the Starter Module on the battery replaced the "Relay". She is an '03.

Hey everyone, any chance of this wiring harness being available? Not seeing anything via product number online. The orange wire was out of its housing and will not remain in upon assembly of the new EHC.
There is a tiny catch on the crimped pin that holds it in the housing. Use a razor knife slide it under the catch and bend it up just slightly. That will allow it to lock into the housing again.
