2004 chopper

my sons 2004 chopper speedo reads right but mileage reads 30% more when we take the same trip, could it be speed sensor in tranny is bad?

Kinda sounds like its in kilometers in a way but you saying the speed is working kinda throws me off a little...i would try recalibrating it first before i spent any money....search this forum for speedo recalibration...its easy to calibrate it....if that doesnt work we try something else

Just to be certain its not a KM vs MPH thing give use some real world example numbers - his mileage vs yours.
Double check the speed is right and as Knothead said double check and recalibrate the unit.

It sounds like he is on kilometers. A kilometer is .621 miles. That is very close to your odometer difference. If it's on kilometers, there will be a dot at the top between the digits somewhere.

Sounds like his is Kilometer and yous is Miles.
194 Kilometers would be 120.56 miles so with ususal calibration accuracy and inflation differences If you speed is right it sounds like his is off.
Find a pair of miles markers on the highway and drive -- do the math.
Did you go 1 mile between the 2 markers. Did he?

checked speedo and yes it was in kilometers, reset and now reads right, will check against mine tomorrow or whenever it quits raining. thanks for the help
