SMALLER LED TURN/STOP LAMP

Energy One

There were a few threads in past about changing your stock bug eyed turn/stop signal units to smaller LED units but that was on 04' and earlier models. I would like to switch out the factory units on an 05' chopper for smaller led units but not sure if the wiring and ECU will support this. Please enlighten me on this or if it has been done, please direct me to a DIY link.

Thanks,

Joe

Lots of threads on this. It can be done, it usually is ok, but sometimes will play havoc on the EHC.

Joe, I used these on my chopper and I'll bet they would work on your big dog. I had to use a badlands self-cancellor (equalizer) but I'll bet they would wire right on an work with your EHC. They are smaller. I like em'. They are turn and stop. Got them on ebay and could get you seller info (and better pic and dimensions if interested).

chitown could you post a pic of them? I was wondering how they fit up against the big dog struts.

Joe (others interested), They have other styles, are quality billet, and affordable.
I ordered chrome bullet red style and one extra bulb.
On my first long trip they were too close to my 250 tire and I wore the wires through and lost lights (they had to have shorted across). Repaired wires and rerouted them thru side of hollow bolt. Didn't hurt bulbs and they have been fine for last 1000 miles.

Being too close to the tire on a Big Dog would not be a problem I don't think because they are on the strut.

Shit, I wouldn't take that bet, They may wire right up, but that don't mean the EHC will play nice with them. IIRC, you said that you decided against putting an EHC on your bike and went the old relay and breaker set up!

You are probably right (I worded that wrong - should have said: these MIGHT work), I've never had an EHC (installed on a bike). If they are that finicky where they would accept or reject something like an LED turn sig, then I don't want one. I'm running LED's on the rear and conventional bulbs on the front.

Thanks for straightening "my sorry ASS" out!

Not trying to straighten you out Cowboy, (and am not qualified to pass judgement on yer ass) just pointing out a potential additional headache. I'm with you, ran breakers and relays on my bike as well! Better to bypass the ehc and go with the badlands set up IMO!:D :D :D

Well I only know of 1 person that put these exact signals on his bike and he did not have any issues but he has since traded it in for a custom bike so I am not speaking from any of my experience so it would be your gamble.

I am guessing the aftermarket turn/stop signals like the Lazer Stars are a "no" for those with the EHC?
