Earplugs / Hearing Protection

Wanted to get some input on finding some good options on earplugs. There's a lot out there and every brand states theirs is the best, so I thought it be best to find out from those that have used some. I do wear a half helmet, so one of my concerns is having something that will stay in at highway speeds, while also being comfortable, if there is such a thing. Any and all input is appreciated - Mike

There are other treads on this topic….wind noise is damaging to hearing because it’s sustained hi volume. Most people don’t understand that the damage is gradual and may not manifest for years, but you’ll lose hearing as you age.
Get a pair of custom formed earplugs. Call local audiology clinics. Go in and they will put a plug in your ear, fill the ear with foam that will set, and you’ll have a set of earplugs that are formed to your ear canals and provide the best protection available. I have used regular foam plugs and they are waaaay better than nothing, the custom ones are the most comfortable for all day use. My last pair were made in Sturgis by a certified Audiologist from FL for about $60 or $65. I won’t ride without them, and if you ever experience the social isolation of significant hearing loss, you wouldn’t either.

Mike, I do Earinc custom ear plugs and have made a lot for this group. I’m in Shreveport. Call Ear inc in Boulder Colorado 1800-525-2690 and ask where is the closest rep. These are custom injected to your ears. Normal price is $65.00 I do them for this group for $45. If you can’t find a rep. I’m in Shreveport or I can ride my dog west and meet you for lunch and inject a pair on site.

CCC9E60D-2701-437E-B3DF-9EC50C37DA28.jpegThese are what I use and they work great. Non rolling plugs means U don’t have to roll them (twist) up to put in. Wet a lil and they slip rite in. Won’t come out no matter how fast u go. Reuse until u lose them too. They even work without the blue helper plug too.

Jonathan made me a set many years ago, I still love them. He also made a set for my wife with earbuds in them, so she can listen to her music going down the road

Appreciate all the responses. Definitely sounds like getting the custom ones made is the way to go. Has anyone had any issues of these coming out when riding with half helmets?

Liferider - I'd love to take you up on your offer, but seems that I'm going to be down for a while (bike too)... I'll be posting on that next. Maybe I can catch up with you in a couple of months.

Custom plugs aint coming out in the wind. I got a set when I was working a real job. Loved em. Had Liferider make me an earbud set too. Custom is the way to go. Worth EVERY penny.
