Welcome to the site do a little intro so we know about what bike you have. Type of riding you do blah blah blah

I have a 04 what oil is in your primary? Is there any? Check your chain tention and check nuts for starters

Where is the noise coming from? If it is from the rear of the bike, it could be as simple as the dreaded belt squeal. Easy to fix, just clean the belt, check tension, and alignment. Try a search. A lot of info, if it is the belt.

Some of the rear pulleys did not have a coating on them causing a squealing noise. Do as others have said, clean the belt and pulleys, check alignment of the rear wheel and belt tension. If all this fails, there are places that will do the pulley coating.

I rode my 04 Chopper today and it also developed the squeal. It did not have it the other day when I rode it. I picked it up on the lift today and it has it more when rolling forward than when rolling backward. It is definitely a belt squeal. What is the proper tension for the belt?

I have an 05 chopper. My belt chirped constantly, so I began spraying the belt with a teflon lubricant. This stopped all that noise.

Good ole bar of soap on the inside and outside edges of your belt will tell you right away if its the belt squealing, and I bet it is. Happened to my 04 Pit. Tore it apart trying to find the noise that seemed to be coming from the primary on decel...... damn belt squeal.

I pulled the rear wheel on my 04 Chopper yesterday because I could tell the bearings were bad. They were stock but what worries me is the outer bearing on the drive side, I noticed the entire bearing moving inside the hub. Hopefully the the bearing was worn and not the hub.

i have had a loud chirp forever and havent been able to find it. i know its coming from the rear pulley (open 3 inch bdl). torn the whole primary apart a few days ago and replaced the main support bearing. rode bike today and fuck me, still that dreaded sound. mine gets real loud when accelerating. my next step was tranny rebuild but ill try some soap. also i didnt think there was and way to adjust belt tension on my open primary. my next step is alot of gasoline and one spark of the ole lighter. that will take care of it for sure. been dealing with this for over 8 months now. lol

I have the squeak now as well, I just run a bar of soap on the edges of the final drive belt. Keeps her quiet till I get my rear tire realigned

I have exactly the very same problem as mentioned on the very beginning of this thread. It is not the belt for sure. It is a "metal on metal" type of squeak in the front belt pulley area. Put on a lift and ran it in gear and it REALLY starts when you get around 30 mph. My bike is also an 04 Big Dog Chopper and brothers, it is loud. Any suggestions?

Hi 05pscc,
Sometimes it's just process of elimination to get it...
Not sure of your exact noise(s) but this link (with video/sound) helped me fix my 04 Chopper noises:
caused by loose compensator nut;
and second noise from dirty unconditioned/lubed belt.

Did you ever figure it out and what you did to fix it?
