Ya X2, why not?The height is the same, mainly the hole pattern. Unfortunately the stock plate can't be drilled to accept the new trans.

Im like you i dont think it be bad at all...just little cutting, welding and little paint....parts is the only thing that would be hard, hard on the wallet lolWhen I was up at HDM a while back, Eric and I were looking over a new frame and comparing it. Changing that plate out doesn't look like it'd be too bad a job.
a new baker trans is like 3500$, buy an ultima RSD 6 speed transmission and the other parts i think you can save some money.Im like you i dont think it be bad at all...just little cutting, welding and little paint....parts is the only thing that would be hard, hard on the wallet lol
Thats all i will buy is ultima transmission..i have 2 bikes with ultima transmission and i love thema new baker trans is like 3500$, buy an ultima RSD 6 speed transmission and the other parts i think you can save some money.
That is my first choice for trans to, i hope you do that transmission conversion so i can learn with you when my baker transmission give is life away i will need to do the same to my bike.Thats all i will buy is ultima transmission..i have 2 bikes with ultima transmission and i love them
Do you have some news if you will make that transformation?Im like you i dont think it be bad at all...just little cutting, welding and little paint....parts is the only thing that would be hard, hard on the wallet lol
Mr. Wright why can't you drill the existing plate? The height is the same, mainly the hole pattern. Unfortunately the stock plate can't be drilled to accept the new trans.
Its the shape of the plate. The same reason why normal shocks like 422's dont natively fit. There is a downward curve to the plate that gets in the way on one side. ie DSSC (Drop Starter Slam Clutch) primary.Mr. Wright why can't you drill the existing plate?
I love the look but i it's impossible to maintain this transmission if anything happens a new baker trans is 3700 plus shipping and labor. If you change and buy ultima rsd, ultima inner, ultima primary starter plus labor to change the frame and labor, paint the frame and shipping probably you will spend less than buy a new trans from baker...Big job $$ if things aren't broken.
Need new Primary, Transmission and starter
Have to remove paint/powder coating and get re-done (ie strip bike to frame)
And you loose the unique look the bike has on the left side (which I happen to like -- not like every other cookie cutter bike)
Like anything you buy, there may be 1 that gives up the ghost. I've installed 7 Ultima transmissions in various builds, over time.Id but a new baker in before doing all that but thats me. I've seen a Ultima break at 80 mph and i wouldnt run one. Andrew Barnes rebuilt my 07 k9 trans I shipped him and he does great work. There is a updated main shaft as those are known to fail in the baker.
