Did BDM ever build a bike with an 88ci motor and a five speed trans ?

Something came apart inside my primary and cracked the outer cover. I'm not gonna speculate on what it is. Just gonna drain the oil and remove the cover and start repairing what's busted. To be honest I don't know what this bike is but if I'm gonna be replacing parts I better figure it out.20210831_024059_(1).jpg

Welcome from Florida! Sorry to hear that something broke. Nice looking bike. Yeah you should be able to use the VIN to verify manufacturer. Good luck! Keep us posted on your findings when you get it apart.

Interesting motorcycle. I see alot of stuff on there that looks like BigDog parts. Then I see stuff I have never seen on a BigDog. Be interested to know what you find out as far as manufacturer. Looks like TP motor. Early BigDogs had the Andrews 5 speed transmission.

This bike is a bunch of stuff so getting it all figured out is turning into an adventure. The title has the maker as SPCNS and the year is 0000. After pulling the outer primary cover off I see that the other cover a friend had brought to me is HD and has the small hole for the starter shaft so it won't work. The busted primary cover I removed only has an H.K. stamped in it so I'm trying to track it or a compatible cover down now. The compensator nut came lose and caused this dilemma. The guy I got the bike from sure didn't care for it very well. The oil in the primary was black and thin. Anyway I'm gonna get to removing the old stater in a few minutes. I really need the parts I'm replacing outta the bike because I'm old and I have issues with buying things online. I like to put the stuff I'm replacing up against the new parts I'm buying. This is nuts cause I can barely walk sometimes but I can still ride a motorcycle. Hope I get this bike dialed in before I can't put my feet down anymore.

Can you post a picture of the primary cover side on. And a shot of the bike on the left side.

I just like my Freedom
Id say by the maker you posted its a Special Custom w/no serial required. A one off bike. Parts may get tricky without doing some online work or ordering... just my thoughts. We will do our best to help you out. Most of us is old too.... ;):chopper:

I appreciate any help given. If I'm scratching my head about any part of fixing something I'll ask. The stater was completely obliterated. I loosened the bolts that hold the plastic part of the chain tension to the adjustment with my fingers. No lock tite on anything. So I had no choice other than to buy a stater / voltage regulator kit online from JP cycles. My neighbor has the same kit still in the box so I got to compare his to mine and it'll work. As for the primary cover. There are a bunch of custom bike shops / builders here in the San Francisco bay area. I'll find one and hopefully figure out what this bike is made from. I have a feeling this bike has been a pain in the ass and a labor of love for someone way before me.

Not sure how many bolt holes that cover has. But I think this is the one you need. Check it out on Ebay. 4BB2E530-BCC2-4FB8-B3EA-59F7B108FAF0.jpeg

The rocker boxes look like stock Harley EVOLUTION. Take some clear pics of the cylinders, and heads on both sides, also the cam cover, and lifter blocks. Are there any markings/logos/ part #s on the case? Post so we can figure out what you have. S&S offered parts to make an 88" EVO engine.

I spoke on the phone with the people at JP cycles about the outer primary cover and we talked about the large hole for the starter shaft. He said some of the later model evolution motors came with a needle bearing and some with a bushing. Mine has the bushing so that's what I ordered. We shall see. I'll snap some pics of the heads and the markings on the cases. Now I'm looking for the way I'll mount the Martin bros. exhaust I just got to the frame. I paid $200 bucks for'em. Anything's better than the header that was on the bike to start with.

Okay so the new charging system and primary cover is installed. New exhaust installed. Had to get some professional help getting the carb dialed in. The bike is running right. Looking forward to the northern California winter weather that's coming. Bikes like running in the cold. Thanks for all the info20210924_134051_HDR_(1)_Edited.jpg

Interesting bike

VIN # will be the only one to tell you the story on the bike.
