I just found out the K9 I am getting Monday has the Bob Woods 650 cam in it. Along with head work and larger valves. I wont have the build specs until 9/22. Was just wondering what kind of power range this cam produces? I have the S&S 124" 550 GD cam power package, HPI TB, 6.3 inj, Star Racing heads with fullsac headers on my 17 Road Glide. 3000 RPM to 4000 RPM is where its at on that ride, 141 HP and 148 TQ. It is a 900 lb bike. Was just wondering what the Woods 650 cam manners were.

I have a 600 with head work, and it likes to run up high, 3-5 I would say.

it’s a little lopey, down low.
Thanks, I was going to run my V&H Big Radius with no baffles but with that big of a cam I probably need all the low end back pressure I can get

I’m looking to do the same set up as you have jwooky, with that said how do you like your set up? Would you change anything ? Is it still fun to ride at lower speeds and around town.

I have a 630 Woods cam, jugs shaved, heads shaved, valves done, etc. etc. It pulls great through all rpm range, it does like higher rpms but rideability throughout is excellent. I have a dyno sheet, I'll post it up if i can come across it.

most all woods cams are a real fast sharp lift ramp with short duration so they got great low end torque and by the time the torque band falls off horsepower is already full steam. Now they can be a bit noisy. Ignore the traditional lifter setting depth of .100ths. Set lifters to compress lifters .1200-.1500ths and also if bike doesn’t have the woods lifters in it order them and put them in. You’ll thanks me later

I own a 2008 K-9 EFI with a Bob Woods 635 cam, jugs shaved, heads shaved, valves done, etc. etc . I love it.

I've had S&S 585 and 600 cams, Lunati 610. Nothing compares to my Bob Woods cam.

This is more generic theory with all the engine work done. Once someone says, 'more air' is going into the engine with all the cam/head/machine thinning work is nothing more than a 'speed event.' It's not more air but 'how fast can I make the event happen quicker?'

The more vs. event, is just think of fuel injection and when, 'Huston, we have a problem' happens, it's the mathematical "Alpha Number" is... ready? When the intake valve closes, it can't be More Air when the normally aspirated engine always closes with 14.7 psi, or nature fought vacuum back to atmosphere... how in the fuck is there more air??? LOLOLOL

If you apply high lift, short duration, it's bleeding speed event. It's saying, get in fast and get out fast is a high speed cam. It always closes on atmosphere no matter the lift numbers. Porting is less drag or a faster air entering. Big valves is a bigger opening so the intake chamber fills faster. Short, open pipes is the sooner the expansion returns to 14.7 on the exhaust opening, the sooner out the pipe, and apply every race trick is just making the event happen sooner/faster.

Signed,
You can't fuel me about more air shoved up your ass than mine remains neutral.

Did you have the heads set to any of those cams? Or did the heads stay stock while you changed the cam

The heads were not matched to the 635 cam. Andrew at Barnes Performance had the heads ported, bigger valve, titanium springs, etc done to the heads and he put in a Lunati 610 cam. I didn't like the cam after riding the bike so I had the Bob Woods 635 put in at DC Vtwin and it dynoed at at 132 hp and 139 trq I believe, i'll look for dyno sheet. Derrell and Derek at DCVwtin in Perry, GA know their shit.
