Question about a noise in the primary cover

Have you pulled the cover?
Could be chain
Could be problem with stator
Pull the cover off and look.
Drain fluid first of course.
Once you're inside and can see, post pic etc and do some further test others will have I'm certain this group can help.

Like Jersey Big Mike said, it could be your primary drive chain is loose, and slapping the inside or outside primary covers... If so, easy fix. Just pull your inspection cover and adjust the chain.
The quick and dirty is to lean the bike over so the oil in the primary won't run out. Then feel the center of the chain rung. If it hangs like a U and you have over an inch or more slack, it could be a simple adjustment.
If say it's more at the front, then possible the compensator is walking towards the primary cover and by draining the oil, you can see the material that was shaved off by spinning, is that mix of oil and sparkle material off the primary cover.

When i take the primary off do I need a new casket or can I use the same one to put back together?
Is there anything that can come loose infront of the stator that would make a chugging chatter

Well you shouldn't need a casket, this job should not kill you.
It is recommended to change the gasket but I have gotten away without doing it but you have to be very careful.
It could be the stator is loose, not much else there - stator/rotor, chain, tensioner, clutch pack
I think I'm on my third R&R with the same gasket...
1. Change outer cover for a new one, and reused the crashed one for some reason?
2. Replaced stator.
3. Inspect clutch pack
4. Ah, just remembered... Had the gasket sticking too low out the bottom of the outer primary. Pushed it up flat with the covers so it didn't stick out.
