Electrical / Starting Problems 2004 BDC

WHAT HAPPENED?
Started up just fine at home, went to a buddies house about 8 miles away.
Was there a for a few hours, needed a jump when he got ready to leave. (It was cold & late). Got a jump from his buddies Corvette with it running. Got about 3 1/2 miles the bike started smoking and died. He found that it melted the cam sensor. Im not sure what else it can be. Hes changed the cam sensor, the ignition switch, the pc board for the run and start switches, changed the thunderheart module to the dyna 2001. Bought a new battery. And still nothing please if someone can help my husband i would be so greatful

So now it cranks over but doesnt start any suggestions please

With a multimeter set at 20v scale, ground the black meter probe, turn key on, kill on, then with the red probe, see if there is 12v to the coil. More wires on the one side of the coil prongs, this is the hot wire to the coil, so you should see it's getting 12v to the coil.

So the 3 [no start] basics are:
Compression - which is why I asked if a cylinder failed and no compression to start.
Fuel - where you look in the tank and slosh how much is in there and maybe you have to switch to reserve for no fuel flow on the main.
Spark - was looking to see if hot is at the coil to create the spark.

3 components for spark:
1. Coil - needs to show 12v with key on at the wire mount prong.
2. Cam sensor - where you could set the multi meter one click down to milliamps, probe both wires of the new cam sensor, crank the engine and did the cam sensor create voltage?
3. Black box - where you want to find 12v going into the unit. Then find directions and read and follow the troubleshooting chart.

Double check bent pins on cam sensor when you installed it. Is carb getting fuel. If light is on ignition it more than likely working than not.Jumping with car running you learned the hard way. I’m betting the EHC is fried. Your picture seems to be the new EHC RIP. Not 100% on that though. HDM inc. should be able to test it if not Curtis at wild steed worx can test the original one. Not sure about RIP one, don’t know why he couldn’t. Give them both a call and see who can test it. There both good people. GOOD LUCK. And MERRY CHRISTMAS
