I am getting ready to send my 05 Mastiff in for some upgrades. I need to know what is needed to bring the cylinders down 40 thousands? What air filter and manifold will fit? If I am looking to replace the filter am I now looking for something that fits a 111 ?? Also will I need to replace the push rods??

Thanks for any help or advise

Welcome from NJ
I don't know the answers to your questions but if I was going to build my engine the first place I would look for advise is https://www.sscycle.com/ . Tell them what you have and what you want to achieve.
That's me others on this site are way more dialed in on building your engine. Good Luck

I've done a ton of them. Standard procedure here on EPA engines.

What exactly needs to be done afterwards? Does the top mount need spacers? Will I be limited to what air filter I use? If I upgrade to a super G what intake can I use? And will I need new pushrods? I appreciate your help.

Since you are getting ready to send your engine in for upgrades, and you have questions on the build, why not send it to John Sachs and tell him what you want. For sure that will take out the guess work or questions about Decking the heads or cylinders. push rod length for valve clearance, larger valves, carburation and so on. You need to know a little about what makes the engine tick and it appears that your knowledge is limited. Break out the wallet HP is not cheap.

I'll second the opinion of sending it to John Sachs.

The red flags for me with your question are
It would seem as pointed out that you are lacking knowledge in this area (as am I)
It makes me wonder about the shop you choosen if they can't/didn't answer these concerns.

I could understand your query if it was, "I am sending bike in to have X done, they said I also need to do Y, is there anything they missed or that isn't really needed."

Did you ship him the bike or do you live in the area? I’m in Wisconsin. What kind of Hp and torque are you pulling?
I removed the heads and cylinders and shipped them to him.

I have never Dyno’d it so really don’t know. Wild guess 130-140hp.

Thanks! Did you have to modify anything because of the shorter cylinders? Like spacers for the top mount or different air filter? Do you remember what cam you went with?

Did my 117. Decked the heads .020”, stainless 2.02 Manley intake valves, quickie pushrods, super G honed 2mm and jetted, 585 cam, regeared trans, open primary, a few other mods. 145hp/155tqE85F269B-0FC4-439B-971D-E6509E3FB750.jpegB3377CB2-B765-4759-ABF0-BFB49CE63261.jpeg4945FC42-DD5A-41CF-8937-75F8F773A938.jpeg1845656B-7C07-4A6F-85E1-8066FF6183A0.jpeg

with those kind of numbers, unless you are a conservative rider, you may want to consider looking into changing over to a chain drive. if i recall right, the belt drive is only recommended for up to about 120-125 horse power and not much more than that for torque.

I am definitely careful, don’t “launch” the bike, tend to roll into it.

With that said I did shed every single tooth off my belt, but it was the original from 08 and dry rotted. I was going drown the highway at the time.

That’s the recommendation written but I installed a new belt, which I can’t remember the name at the moment, that performs awesome. Sometimes when I get a snotty kid on his R1 or Ninja and he does the ol over rev, u know, baiting me, the light changes and smoke them every time. It’s a rush but I’m getting kinda old for that crap lol
