Trans leak ?

Couple of questions for you guys
Can primary oil leak into your transmission ?
I use spectro synthetic oil’s in my transmission/primary/engine.
I used the proper amount ( or at least I thought I did ) and grade/weight according to the manual in all three.
I could have sworn I only put 20 ounces of the spectro full synthetic platinum 75W140 in the trans last fall. I still have what’s left of the quart sitting on the shelf and according to my math All I used was 18 1/2 to 19 ounces. But I pull the dipstick out and it’s over full this is why I ask. I am getting a leak onto my floor after riding it seems to be coming from the overflow tube on the transmission but I can’t really tell because the space between the primary and transmission is so tight and the overflow tube doesn’t come out the bottom all the way. It’s actually dripping off the lower corner of the Engine oil tank Kickstand side And the overflow tube looks like it ends right there in that area. Now I know it being over full can cause this and before riding it again I plan on draining some of it out so it’s only to the full mark with the bike sitting in the upright position. The drips on the floor are pink the same as the spectro 75W140 oil. I don’t know if it’s possible for the primary to leak into the trans to cause this over full condition. I would think that if it was going to have a leak from one to the other it would be from the transmission to the primary and not from the primary to the transmission as the transmission oil level is physically above the primary oil level and the shaft seal.
What really throws me on this is the fact that I did The fluid changes last fall and I have done a bunch of riding since then and it’s just now showing up. Plus it being over full and I still have 12 1/2 to 13 ounces of oil in that quart I used sitting on the shelf which tells me I only used 18 1/2 to 19 ounces. I do know one thing for sure with that oil being so clear it’s just a slight hint of pink it’s hard to read on that chrome dipstick.
Well anyway Guys I’m gonna go out to the shop in a little while and drain some of it off and clean it up and take it out again tomorrow and see what happens.
Just thought I’d throw this up here and see if anyone had any insight on this.

Just for shits and giggles I think I’ll pull my primary inspection plate off and have a look see at the oil level while I’m at it.

Yes—hard to see. I blot it on a blue shop towel.

Could also be a transmission input seal leaking, but that will usually leak primary oil.and that is always nasty black.
You May not use the entire ‘full‘ amount (+/- 20 oz.) bcs the transmission doesn’t completely empty, especially if it’s not full operating temp. Also when the oil heats up, it expands—so if you fill to the top mark cold, it will measure overfilled when it gets hot, as it sure does this time of year.

Well SKOGDOG I put the bike on the lift pulled the drain plug let some oil out replace the plug pulled the dipstick still over full repeated the process a couple of times until I got it down to the top mark on the dipstick.
( 7-1/2 ounces over full ) Cleaned everything up waited till the following day which was 97° weather took it out for a couple hundred mile ride brought it home parked in the shop. Went out the following morning to have a looksee and low and behold no leaks.
I definitely made a few mistakes !!!
# 1 When I did the fluid change on the bike it was like 30° in the shop last fall and the bike had been sitting for a couple of weeks so everything was cold / Not operating temperature so it didn’t drain completely out.
# 2 I let it down off the stand before filling and checking it.
# 3 Had it leaning on the kickstand ( not standing upright ) which by the way was completely worn out and really leaning that was before I put the new 1 inch longer kickstand on it. I put the 18 1/2 to 19 ounces of oil in it to get it to the top mark on the dipstick.

(Well I Learned my lesson ) Warm the bike up before draining fluids / Always check fluid levels with the bike standing upright / Don’t be a tight ass turn the furnace on in the shop when it’s cold out LOL.

Here’s a funny one for you I’ll be out working in the shop in the winter and the wife will come out and say damn honey it’s Freezing out here why don’t you turn the furnace on - My reply Cost too damn much to run it. But yet I will be out there working during the summer and have the air conditioner on and the wife will come out and say damn honey it’s freezing in here and then she says you know that air conditioner is costing us a fortune to run Then she’ll laugh at me and go back to what she was doing.
I think sometimes that she thinks I’m nuttier than a fruitcake and Sometimes I got to agree with her LOL

Damn I love that woman she makes me laugh.

Always good to hear when a problem is solved w/o spending money. My last transmission issue cost $1500.....
