Won't start after cutting out

Hi my Mastiff / Coyote won't start. I had to jump start the bike last week and it was fine. I ride it approx 20 miles to see a freind and it purred.. After being in my friends house for about a hour I came out only to find it wouldn't start again and it sounded like the solenoid wad not engaged. After a lot of rocking and another jump start we got it going but approx 5 miles down the road it suddenly cut out and stopped. I had to get it trailered home. I recharged the battery but couldn't get it to turn over. I bought a new, battery and fitted it today and although the bike now turns over and there is a spark it won't fire up. And yes there is fuel.. Any ideas? I'm a little disappointed to he honest.. Thanks.

Jumpstarting can be fatal to EHC (computer) if the car engine is running ... Spike on voltage may be too much for it...

Has spark, has fuel, what is the compression? Get that out of the way before you chase your tail.

Thank you it's got excellent compression and a spark, gonna double check fuel fir blockage, but was being used when it cut out.. And there's still fuel in it.. I'm hoping it's something simple.

There are other forums on here on how to read you ech lights. You should ve able to remove your seat and on an 06 mastiff look down at the ech which is under the 2 big plugs right in front of your batter and see which lights come on with the key switch, then when you hit the run button and then while pressing the start button. See which lights come on find the post on here anout reading ech lights and go from there.

Thanks I definetly haven't got that on mine. As its a 2016 model I was hoping it would have a different system and I think it has. Also being a prototype for the European Market the controls are different. In a way I'm pleased. The brain seems a sealed unit behind the battery box and between that and the rear fender, with the plugs underneath so maybe I haven't blown it up.. Fingers crossed.. Thanks again

I had two friends with the same problem. Turned out to be EHC. Bikes would cut out while riding . Most of the time they would start up after 15 to 20 minutes on the side of the road. One was 06 Pitbull and the other was o6 Chopper.
I removed the proprietary EHC system and had my 06 Mastiff rewired to HD specs......never a problem !

Hi rip out the old thunder game art ignition and throw it away. Mine left me stranded so I replaced it with a Crane Hi-4 programmable. Everything fits in the nose cone. You also need to check your charging system. My guess is your regulator went out.

Hi everyone. Problem fixed, turns out the voltage regulator on my bike is a 40amp one and whoever had the bike before me had used a 30amp fuse to protect the ecu.. Changed now to a 40amp fuse and all works really well and battery now recharging properly.. Also found out that some of these bikes have a 32amp regulator so worth checking if your having charging problems etc.. Have a great day and ride safe...
