The pistons moving up and down cause positive and negative pressure in the crankcase. The breathers allow air to move in and out of the engine. Some oil can be ejected out the breathers, but it shouldn't be a lot. The breather system should be connected to the air cleaner. At idle, the motor isn't making enough vacuum to suck the oil into the carburetor. It ends up running to the bottom of the filter and leaking. It's no big deal and is designed to do this. My deluxe leaks oil from the air cleaner if it idles too long.

Well I have put a Jims 5 speed transmission in the bike because the 6 speed was trashed. Since it is a 5 speed and the engine is running at higher RPM's at the higher speeds, will this cause the oil pressure to be high and potentially cause oil to come out?

How old are you devil dog? I’m 52 live in Texas same as you. I’m as old school as it gets. But damn. I can go anywhere and buy any kind of polish and use the underwear I’m wearing and hit that big dog a lick. I’ve been to truck stops in Conroe and in Huntsville they have polish. Spend $6.00 and hit that dog.

What weight oil are you running? Thick oil will cause high pressure! Some of those bike have a crank case breather you might check on getting one for your bike some people plug them off and some run a small filter on the end. You ever notice that when the bike is hot( oil) the pressure drops from 50 to 40 or 40 to 30 that’s the oil getting hot and thinning down. That’s why it’s better to change your oil after the engine is warm (oil comes out easier when it’s hot).

I am 39, and I live in Willis/Conroe area. I just got back from riding the Twisted Sisters in Bandera. I haven't had a chance to clean her up since then. I have her at my dads shop because I have some work to do. The blinkers and brake lights stopped, figure out where the oil is leaking from (which is a question on this post), put the license plate back where it should be, get a new head light (while in Bandera a rock broke the glass on the headlight), etc.......
I am running 20w 50 oil and I am looking into a oil pressure gauge for the bike. Haven't found one yet.
