What is this vent for?

So I *did* try to find it on the line (S&S/XXX Carb diagrams). And I watched several of Mark’s videos hoping he’d comment on it. But there is a tube that comes off of the rear head and then snakes around the bike to the back and has a small filter on it. (See picture, sorry bike’s dirty but it’s cold as shit here). My suspicion is that it’s a vacuum hose and since I have a XXX Carb w/cone filter I’m guessing it’s just a different setup than stock and hence my difficulty confirming.

Right now it’s bolted to the right passenger peg bolt and I can/will relocate it so my wife can hop on once in a while but was just hoping to understand what it is.

Appreciate any guidance.

Best

If it's coming off the rear head, it's the rear breather line. It used to go to the air cleaner, but since you have a different ac, it may not have a breather hook-up, thus it was routed to the rear of the bike. If the in-line check valve is still in the hose, there is no need for a filter. It can be just routed to the ground.

Great thank you. Mystery solved.

I’ve decided to go the ‘simple route and just place the clevis on top (which adds about 1/4” that I can just washer-up on the other bolt). If my wife stays on the bike then maybe I’ll check the in-line check valve and maybe simplify even more.

Appreciate the help!

Appreciate all the help guys.

All this was to put in passenger pegs. Any suggestions on how to identify ones that will work. I have ordered two sets of Harley pegs, first pair were a bit short and flopped down, waiting on the second pair.

Again appreciate the support!

I'm not 100 percent positive here, but I don't think harley pegs will work in the BDM clevis. Maybe a harley clevis will bolt into a big dog? Maybe someone will chime in and clarify. Best bet is to get a hold of Derek & Donna. They will fix you up.

Just to close out this thread...

In the end I bought the BDM clevis’ but the above was correct in that non of the Harley pegs will work, you need the $$$ BDM originals. So I found a universal clevis that would work with the Harley pegs. it’s not as “clean” but works and looks ok.

Thanks again for the help.
